Fun at the bookstore…

So we flew across the country to the east coast this weekend to sign at Turn The Page Books, which happens to be Nora Roberts’ bookstore. It was a Halloween signing, so don’t mind the witch in the photos…or Alpha Man, who was put to work managing lines because … well, Nora. πŸ™‚

And the town of Boonsboro went all out for decorations, including this VERY creepy building…

Do you do up Halloween? Dress up? Inquiring minds wanna know!

  1. Since our household has three adults who are pagan, we already have a big celebration at Halloween (or Samhain as we call it) HOWEVER we also thoroughly enjoy decorating the house inside and out, each year more stuff is added and we will dress up just for the trick or treaters. One year I dressed up as a motorcycle chic…hey I had the leathers for it pants jacket and hat and boots…although I wore it to class as well and darn near gave one of my male classmates a heart attack. We thought we’d have to restrain him. LOL. Last year I dressed up as an OldWest gambler (hey I was in Old West Reenacting for still had a bit of that gear left). This year I’m dressing up as a Purple Witch. Hat, cloak, dress, stockings and all…including a Purple wig. Still pondering how I’m going to do that makeup though.

LOVE that building….wonder how they got them to stick like that? Yup it’s giving me ideas for next year. This year I wove a tunnel of cobwebs from the front gate to the porch where we will be sitting with the candy.

  2. We just got back from a trip to KC for our niece’s Addams Family themed Halloween party (we went as Lurch and Grandmama). She and my hubs are both Halloween nuts. He went a little crazy and built an animatronic ghoul for her front porch with eyes that follow you as you walk past it.

  3. No, don’t really do anything for Halloween anymore. You guys look like you had fun! And the building, although clever, is really creepy — I think I’d stay indoors after dark! πŸ™‚

  4. I dress up for my granddaughter’s birthday party since it is near Halloween. Her parents go all out. I live in a rural area and only get my two grandkids as trick or treaters so I usually only hang something on the door.

  5. I used to decorate and dress up. The retail places I worked in the past would let employees dress up in costume if they wanted to. The retail place I work at now will not let us. One year I was Cruella De Ville and the other half of me was a dalmation from Disney’s 101 Dalmations.

  6. In our younger years, we used to put a β€˜tunnel’ (crepe paper strips hung on a string) inside our home from front door to back door. My husband would draw a large Halloween picture with chalk that glowed under a black light. That was at the end of the tunnel where their treats awaited. When exiting the back door, we had a β€˜ghost’ (sheet on a pulley) fly down that produced the appropriate screams. πŸ‘»

  7. We don’t usually wear costumes, maybe just some fun hat or scary headband “ears”; and decorate the house. Mostly, we just fight about who gets to hand out the candy so we can see the kids in their costumes. πŸŠπŸ‘½πŸŠ

  8. No & since the grandkids that live local have grown up & because we live in a rural area we don’t have trick or treaters.
