Poor Frat Boy has had a string of bad luck, resulting in a few doggy ER visits. This is mostly do to stupidity– er, puppy exuberance. The result of which is that we’ve decided he must go around wearing protection.
For the rest of his life.
Or until I pay off the vet bills racked up on my poor, overburdened Visa…
Do you have a dog? Have you ever had one? Name? Share your babies with us!

We have two rescues right now – Maggie Mae, a border collie and Layla, a shepard/healer mix. So far no crazy vet bills on these two but in the past we’ve spent more money on animals then on people. It’s a good thing we love them no matter how big the Visa bill gets.

We have a chocolate miniature poodle named Gina. I just came in from taking her out. Luckily, for cold winter mornings (when I am still in my slippers) she pees on command. She is too smart and that has it own problems. But she is not a yapper – yay! She is a 14 lb. “attack” poodle. She might lick you to death. When we take her to the dog park, the first thing she does is run the perimeter. She doesn’t take any guff from other dogs no matter how big they are. Of course, she knows I’m the alpha in our pack.

When hubs and I bought a house (pre-wedding…gasp!) our first purchase was a golden retriever. Dutch was an awesome dog and lived for 14 years and 1 month. We took a break for awhile after that and now we have Remy James, another golden retriever, and he is 4. He’s a great dog, too, and so different from our first.

I used to have a dog that was a rottweiler-shepherd mix named Zoey. She was an interesting character who could not be left alone because she would shred anything made of paper. She would also turn on the tv and lights and created some nice large electrical bills.
Then I had a cat named Miss Piggy who was a feral cat and cost me a huge amount of money in vet bills. She had the strange habit of everytime it snowed catapulting herself into the patio door trying to get the snowflakes. One day I opened the patio door as she was about to pounce and she landed in the snow bank. She was not impressed with me at all! LOL

I’ve had several dogs over the years – started with Magic and Scooter – two Cocker Spaniels. We lost Magic due to kidney failure and when Scooter was an “old man” we got our GSD Taz. Gave Scooter a new lease on life for a while, but then we lost him due to old age. Taz was epileptic and was lucky he had picked us, because we made sure we paid for his medication to help stabilize his seizures over the course of his life (at one point over $800/month). We lost him just after he turned 8. At that point, my husband lasted a week before find another GSD, Valkyrie, on Craig’s List. Valkyrie went from rags to riches – from being one of 6 dogs in an outdoor kennel to being the queen of her roost with freedom to sleep on the bed, the couch, any where she wanted to and to having regular meals without having to worry about someone else eating her food! She’s a spoiled princess now!

LOL I understood the picture before I read the post! We have had labs forever and they are a trip. The only lab we have left is Libby and she is a senile old bat who forgets what she is doing most of the time. We also have 3 pugs who are always under my chair while I’m working and 2 of them sleep in bed with us. My baby, though, turns a year old this weekend. She is an American Bulldog named Lacy and is 70 pounds of pure joy. She is definitely my dog… err… I’m her human and she follows me everywhere and would kick my hubby out of bed if she could

Have a chocolate lab named Hunter and it must be in the lab makeup to do absolutely seemingly stupid things. But love him.

But I LOVE her anyway. I wouldn’t trade her for anything in this world.

When my parent’s went to the shelter to find a dog, they saw this poor little scared dog and he was on “clearance” because he he was getting close to the end of his shelter life. He gave us five good years on my parent’s farm in Iowa where he could run and investigate every smell he found. We miss him very much.

I have 2 fur babies. Matilda (aka Matti) was a rescue from a rescue group in Houston. She and her litter mates, and mom were found abandoned on a construction site in downtown Houston. They all had mange and Matti had a broken tail. Her mom was a Jack Russell and her dad was unknown but we believe either boxer or pit because she is huge. So much for “oh, she will only be 30-40 lbs”… She is darn near 70 lbs. She still has a crooked tail and scars from where the mange scarred her ears (nearly ate through her ears in 2 places), but she is beautiful and such a sweet girl… Well, when she wants to be. We call her our K9 Kitty because half the time she acts more like an antisocial cat rather than a dog. Oh, and she loves to watch Big Cat Diaries on Animal planet. We think that is where she learned her cat like qualities. Our other fur baby is Diva. We call her our gift from Jesus because right before Christmas she showed up in our yard. It was below freezing and raining and the poor baby was shivering, wet and seriously emaciated. She too had mange. We brought her in and she has been grateful ever since. It took us months to get her healthy but she is now the cutest healthiest girl around. She is amazingly affectionate and loves to hug. It was obvious that she was abused before she came to us so she was nervous (and still is at times) but no matter how nervous she is, she is still so sweet and affectionate. She has some scars but her coat mostly covers them. She is beautiful in every way and life here at the Tipton’s would be nothing without her.

For 13 years I was blessed with a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named O’Malley who thought he was human. I took him wherever I went (except work although I tried to talk them into it). Best story – We were having a family portrait taken outside and after the photographer got us all situated, O’Malley strolls up and flops down front and center of the portrait just like he was waiting for us to get our act together. The best part was that my Grandma was not happy about this especially when my aunt submitted the photo with O’Malley in it to the historical society for inclusion in their family history book. He’s actually named in the photo!

Our two current dogs are snorkies (half schnauzer and half yorkie) who are brother/sister. They have the same parents but from different litters. The previous was a lab/shepherd who ate everything that wasn’t nailed down. That includes my cell phone, balloons, brillo pads, two 20′s and a 10. The last thing he ate led to his death. From a puppy on, he would warn us when our son was going to have a seizure before our son had one.

We have a Chihuahua named Rolo that will be 9 this June. She recently had to have an emergency vet visit because we thought she was dying, turned out to be a pulled muscle in her neck and shoulder. We also have 2 cats, Slinky my first baby is a solid black and will be 13 this year. Ivy is a grey and white stray we found outside our house 7 years ago, petted her one time and she wouldn’t leave. After a week of her sleeping on our deck under our grill the husband finally caved to be begging and she has been my little love bug every since.
I think the reason she was a stray was she has a lot of health issues. Had to take her to the vet for food allergies, UTI and just about everything else!

We don’t have any dogs currently, our last dog was a wolf/german shepard named Wazia, and she was beautiful and lived a very long life, she was however scared to death of the cat and wouldn’t cross in front of her unless there was a human in between.
I had a special needs kitty named Friday, who literally fell into my life on Good Friday many years ago. His mom was a stray and had kittens on our roof, and he rolled off. He wasn’t expected to make it and he nearly cost me 5000 grand his first year, but he was the most special kitty, and we had him for 7 yrs until he had a seisure in my arms and past. Our current Kitty reminds me of your Frat boy, his name is Simba, and I am surprised that I haven’t had to have him at the vet more, he is crazy and is always doing crazy things like running into walls and trying to balance on door jams.

Poor Frat Boy! or rather poor you! LOL!! I have had a few dogs over the years. Right now we have a female Beagle named Lucy, after the Peanuts comic character because they have a Beagle in it named Snoopy! If we had gotten a male his name would have been either Snoopy or Radar. She is a character and really makes us laugh hysterically. When we give her a chew stick we throw it and she chases it and plays with it like a cat! She goes into the bathroom and stands in between the tub and the toilet and waits for the light! You have to lift the lid up and down, up and down and there is a light(reflection from the lights) that goes up and down and she jumps and barks at it! It is hilarious! She loves to be petted and will nudge you hand if you don’t or stop petting her! She also has an interesting routine she does when she wants to let you know she needs to go outside to go to the bathroom.

Shadow, until she recently developed vestibular disease (sort of like vertigo) would growl out “I love you.” Now, her hearing is shot and if she barks or growls, she gets dizzy and loses her balance. Sunshine is a lover and would probably welcome any burglar and lick him/her to death. She thinks that she is the big dog, or at least the alpha female.

I’ve had dogs in my life a good portion of my life! Probably you don’t want me to go so far back!!! Currently no pets, don’t intend to change that. I grew up with black labs as my dad was a hunter. They are such good family dogs. After I was married we had a dog but gave him to someone when we moved from Oregon to California. Then we had several dogs along through the years including a St. Bernard that had “papers” as he was pure bred. We also had cats from time to time, a mutt named Budweiser!! But probably the most recent & memorable (but aren’t they all?), was Millie a poodle mix. She was a love that acquired our family by following my oldest daughter home one day. I said, we are not, emphasis on not, keeping this dog. Ha!!! Millie ruled, we fell in love with her. She has been gone since the 90′s, but her memory lingers on.

I love the pic of Frat Boy & definitely feel for you guys. We had a 11.5 yr old wire fox terrier named Zoe who passed away 15 months ago. She was my youngest’s best friend. She suffered from seizures, so we paid a lot for her care at the University of Minnesota’s vet hospital with a specialist. We don’t regret a penny of it. Now we have Teddy, a “morkie” who is 3/4 yorkie & 1/4 maltese. He is only 5 pounds and is a major touble maker. He thinks he can get the squirrels outside while he is inside looking out the window. He has even tried to climb the trees in our backyard. He was so proud of the dead squirrel he carried around in our yard last fall. We believe it was dead before he got to it but we still had to deal with all the diarrhea he had until it was discovered he caught parasites from it. He is a year old, but is still a puppy.

We (my 2 teens and I) have 3 dogs. Abilene (Abi-named after a Christine Rimmer heroine) is almost 3 yrs old and with the exception of the missing white line on the top of the head looks just like your Frat Boy. Then we have two Yorkie/Jack Russel Mixes that are sisters and look nothing alike and are 10 months apart. Penni (From the show The Big Bang Theory) is also called the Drama queen or the $5000.00 dog. Reason being is from so many vet visits, one of which was an 8 day stay from catching parvo before she was even old enough to be vaccinated. And her anti-social sister, will not have anything to do with anybody outside of our house, do not even try, Shelbi (named after the car I will probably never own). Both of my teens, the 16 yr old son is the actual owner of Abi, agree the dogs are more spoiled then they could ever dream of being.

Eddie our scaredy cat but a scary bark lab is my moms dog. He doesn’t like anyone in our home, but if you come in he hides behind things. Can’t call him our protector at all. Then there is Bruno aka baby boy my black and white beagle. He follows me everywhere, I mean literally, follows me to the bathroom. He doesn’t stare or anything just sits next me but has his back turn like he is guarding me. There are times he will sleep in my room and on my bed. He is such a bed hog. He listens to me mostly then he does to my parents. Lol last but not least, Buttercup, my dads yorkie. His baby his pride and joy. She is a spoiled rotton princess. Wants to be carried to bed, has to sleep between my parents, she will play when she wants to, also she will tell you go bed if she is tired and if you are not oh we’ll bed time anyways. Only because she will keep barking at you till you do go to bed. She loves to give you kisses and twirl in circles if she gets to leave the house for the day. I love my pets they are family, best friends and they will never judge you in anyway.
I can never live without them.

I had a Black Lab/Greyhound mix we rescued from a no kill shelter…his name was Bulletzky, we shortened it to Bliztzy…he was a runner. He always got away..so many times we had the neighborhood his running after him in there bikes. One times he ran in the swamps in the back of our house. Our house backs up to a protected wetlands..the neighbors son went after him…came out of the swamp…thank god everyone was ok… He was the best dog. My little Houdini…he slept with me in my husband every night. The first couple nights we made him a bed downstairs did not least long at all…maybe one night then he was in our bed…one night he got bloat which I’m sure everyone knows what that is. It can kill if not treated immediately and even then sometimes its not 100% guaranteed. When we took him to the 24 care they took him back right away. They don’t mess around with that. Thank god he was ok afterwards..It was the scariest thing I ever went through..I don’t have any children. He was it for me. I hope to get another dog someday. I know how vet bills can add up. We were watching my very good friends who is my neighbors dog Audi she mad she was left alone….she decided to eat Christmas lights cord and bulbs. We were watching her when she threw up those lights…took her to the vet….emergency surgery and she’s doing just fine…

I have 2 GSDs. The male is 142lbs and very protective. The female is a rescue – she was 67lbs when I got her 2.5 years ago. She was used for breeding and kept outside 24/7. When the breeder told me that this was her last litter and he was replacing her, I immediately said I’d take her. She had heart worms and a skin infection. She’s now a 103lb spayed house dog on a diet. She has hip dysplasia and we are working to get her to 80lbs. I know she’s alive today because of me…and because of her, my house will never be free of dog hair! The male GSD is also on a diet bc we all know that misery loves company! My Sosa girl is a lightening fast thief and will steal TV remotes and big man’s food. She’s the best.

I ABSOLUTELY love dogs! I think that’s part of the reason why I fell in love with your Animal Series. My mom wasn’t, and still not according to her, a pet person. When I was in middle school I tried everything to convince my parents to get the family a dog and one day they finally did!
She’s a brown labradoodle and her name is Cocoa. All of the kids start with a ‘C.’ Me- Cassidy, my sister- Callie, and my brother- Cameron. So it was only fitting that our newest edition also start with a C. And we couldn’t have asked for a better dog. We LOVE her! …Even my mom! Hahaha <3

Pets – do I have pets? Somehow over the years we have wound up with 5. Two dogs, Ginger (10yo lab mix) and Annie (5yo poodle/yorkie mix). Three cats 2 females, 15yo Sassy and 3yo Bailey and one male 7yo CT. No matter how much they annoy me (let me in, let me out, feed me) or how expensive they are, I can’t imagine my life without them.

We have Louie who is a black lab mix and could be Frat Boy’s older brother. They have the same white patch on the chest – although Louie sports a white chin and now he’s getting some white hair on his face. He is a hoot and we love him.

I have a Yorkie named Maggie. The love of my life! Well, second to hubby, of course. She “talks” to us in throaty sounds when she wants us to go out to play Frisbee with her. And she is ferocious when it comes to squirrels in our back yard! And she loves riding in the basket in back of my adult trike. Her little round donut bed is smack between our pillows at night…and she sleeps all night long in it. She is our sweetie pie.

I have an adopted beagle (who came with the name), Frita– because puppies smell like Fritos, right? She has selective hearing, and delights in eating any gross thing fround on the ground. Or delicious leftover she “happens” to reach on the table. My students refer to her as my furry daughter.
I always wanted to name a dog Heathcliff, and then stand on the porch/patio(er, moors) and call for him to come home.

When I got my first Black Lab – Clover (my Irish Labrador), I was convinced that my vet bills paid for a very good college education for one of the vets’ kids. You name it, she had it. Or ate it. Or destroyed it. I lost her to cancer in July at the age of 11 and miss her craziness terribly.
My 2nd Black Lab – a rescue named Cosmo. He is 7 years old now and once he at a hole in a towel that I left on the floor after taking a shower. That’s it. He definitely came from a different gene pool!
You have to love ‘em!

I have Gracie the Wonder Dog and Bitsy who pukes alot! My dog is a super cute attention hog who gets bored during the day and likes to pull the toilet paper in a long stream around the house. The cat..sigh..the cat. Bitsy is 12 years old and has starting barfing once a day. Her favorite spot to barf is on my bed. The vet can’t find anything wrong but made me change her food…it costs $1.a pack and she gets 1.5 packs a day…$45 a month in cat food! OY! Anyone want a cute cat?

My black lab, Dagan, competes in a dog competition called nosework. He uses his nose to find certain scents. He works fast, using his NOSE and not his EYES. This causes him to hit his head. Hard. On a regular basis. I am sure that this will, someday, result in gushing blood on a search field and give us faults on his score (can’t leave anything behind in the search area. We already push it with his massive amounts of drool they have to wipe down once he is done). I also make sure to have the quickest route to the emergency vet mapped out from every competition site. Just in case!

I’ve been browsing online more than three hours lately, but I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth sufficient for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made excellent content material as you probably did, the internet can be much more helpful than ever before.
