Snow Day

March 7, 2013 | Filed under: Stuff

Just when I thought the snow was going to melt off in another week, we got a big storm…

But there was someone very happy to see snow, the same someone who was running out of snow spots to pee on …

Frat Boy does love a good storm…

  1. Liza says:

We’ve been cold for here for the last few days. Looks like we are finally in for a warm up. Temps in the 50′s today and might hit 70 over the weekend. Love TN weather….if you don’t like it just wait a minute and it will change.

  2. Mrs. M says:

Just had the first wave of a nor’easter here on Long Island. Lots of wind, some rain, a little bit of snow. Due to get more WET snow overnight into tom’w which could cause power outages. Jersey Shore and southern parts of LI were flooded again. I’m done with winter, bring on the spring.

  3. Eileen says:

we got a wet snow yesterday and is probably going to melt with the warmer temperatures coming in this weekend. That’s fine with me. DST happens this weekend so I hope that means spring is around the corner.

  4. Bailey Stewart says:

We’re having the yo-yo winter. It can’t decide if it’s winter or spring. 70s, 80s, 40s, 50s …. *sigh* First winter in a long time that I haven’t been able to pack away the shorts. And to think, a couple of years ago when DFW hosted the Super Bowl, we were snowed in for a couple of days ….. Super Bowl week this year? Yeah, 70s …..

  5. Michelle C. says:

Here in South Florida the high today is 70. I know that may sound wonderful to all of you with snow, but that is cold for us :) . Will be a beautiful day though! Hope you all stay warm and safe!

  6. Lynn LaFleur says:

Love the picture of Frat Boy rolling in the snow! I’m with him. I love snow. Unfortunately, I don’t get very much of it here in North Texas. I agree with Bailey about the yo-yo weather. Heat one day, ceiling fans the next. It’s supposed to hit 75 today with lots of sunshine.

  7. Cris says:

We’re getting that delectable ‘wintry mix’ today again (thank you winter storm Saturn)… I swear, Mother Nature is making up for last winter with a vengeance. Good thing I’m confined to my desk with thesis writing & an injured toe! :)

I have to move somewhere warm & tropical…

  8. Gwen R. says:

We had two feet of snow within 5 days which is not normal for Kansas and pretty much put us at a standstill. Now the snow is melting but whatever is left over is black. Ick! Going into the upper 50s with some rain this weekend. I heard the robins singing yesterday so Spring is almost here! Yay!

  9. Wendy S says:

It will be 75 today in San Antonio…love living in the South.

  10. Diane Engelhardt says:

Here in Texas it’s been dropping into the 30′s at night but today they say its gonna be 69. It was very windy but it died down last night.

  11. Tammy M. says:

Well last week things came to a halt with a blizzard blowing around the Texas panhandle. This week we’re in the 70′s. now if only the wind would go away! My 6 yr old son said he hates wind and I told him, welcome to Texas! I’m ready for spring, I’m hoping we don’t get more snow.

  12. MaryAnne says:

Sunshine and high of 64 today. It’s only snowed here on the First Coast of FL three times since 1985 and even then it was miniscule. We are used to heavy rain which can accumulate up two to three inches in 15 minutes making driving a real challenge.

It’s good to see Frat Boy is ‘one’ with his elements!

  13. Jeanine says:

Early this morning, we had to deal with some minor coastal flooding from the storm that’s hitting NY right now… and walking from Columbus Circle to work was like walking around a snow globe, flurries circling everywhere, all around.

  14. Sandi in OH says:

It is suppose to be in the 40′s today. We had snow every day for a week but not much of it stuck. Our local school hasn’t even had a snow day this school year. We have been very lucky.

  15. Ashley says:

Today is suppose to be in the low 60′s today in San Diego, but it’s suppose to rain later tonight. Then it’s suppose to rain tomorrow and into Saturday. I love the rain! My kids though, not so much! They hate rainy day schedule at school.

  16. Juhi says:

its confusing weather here !! dont know whether to or not to pack all the winter clothes and take out the summer clothes!

  17. Tammy C says:

It’s still cold in south east Arkansas, highs in the 50s, lows in the 30s. Usually by my bday, March 1st we are having 70s in the daytime. But we NEVER have snow like you guys, usually if anything, we get ice or very wet snow. This year parts of Arkansas got a foot or more of snow and we had blizzard warnings. LOL gottta luv the South.

  18. Connie N. says:

Same as you. No wind today though It’s coming down nice and soft and pretty this morning. Just hear those sleigh bells ring-a-ling, ting, ting, ting-a-ling too.

  19. Ashley M says:

Its a balmy 72 degress in Texas. Perfect now, but it’s going to be miserable this summer/fall. Oh for joy.

  20. Steffi K says:

its starting to rain as of today until probably tomorrow before the temps go up again

  21. Northwoman says:

We got lots of snow Monday and Tuesday. I finally got around to my front door this morning but apparently my mailman found it yesterday (it was shoveled Tuesday afternoon) because my Bookaholic package was there! YAY! New plans for later today. :) :!:

  22. Allie says:

What a happy dog! So cute how he is rolling in the snow. We did not get any snow here this year. Current weather 42 degrees and raining.

  23. BC says:

I love Frat Boy’s enthusiasm for the snow. As a native of Orlando that amount of snow boggles the mind. We’ve been unseasonably (unreasonably) cold here of late.

  24. Nicole S says:

Frat Boy looks like he’s having a great time in the snow. The weather here is okay a little on the chilly side. The snow here is slowly melting.

  25. Diane says:

Cold and rainy here in the Seattle area. Glad we aren’t deluged with snow, but a little bit this winter would have been nice. Supposed to be around 52 today, but if it’s like yesterday it won’t make it much above 48.

  26. Janice says:

It is windy and snowing in Massachusetts.

  27. DebK says:

Normally I would not be jealous of your snow. I love living in a climate that has nice temperatures all year round. (Well, with the exception of June through September when the temperature is usually between 120 and 135 F before humidity is even factored in.) However, today I am jealous of the snow because we have blizzard-like conditions but rather than snow it is sand. Sandstorms are absolutely horrid! My eyes feel gritty, my allergies are acting up… and if that wasn’t enough the inside of my house that was dust-free yesterday is now covered with a layer of dust thick enough for me to write messages on the furniture.

  28. Vicki P says:

Irritating snow and wind almost every day lately in Ohio–but not enough for a snow day up here! However, my son in college at the other corner of the state got his first snow day there!
So much for the groundhog’s prediction of an EARLY SPRING!!!

  29. Melissa Hilles says:

chilli but warm…i would love to be in the snow. i want my son to be able to play in the snow.

  30. adalgisa Lena says:

The Snow has stop for now more coming later here In CT

  31. Paula Gardner says:

Here in west central Florida, it’s going to be in the 60′s. Way too cool at night (40′s),but when I’m in bed I don’t really care much. BRRRRRR! I know to you northerners that’s a heat wave, but for us, it means hunker down inside with a cup of tea and a good book. But it is sunny today, and that sort of makes up for the “chill”. I really am spoiled living here, but I love it, even when it’s hot as you-know-where! Of course, the weather gives us a good excuse to cuddle up with someone nice and warm under the covers! (As I’m sure you northerners could attest.)

  32. Kathleen O says:

We had a little bit of snow, and it is cold out… dull and late winter day. I want SPRING…

  33. Olivia H says:

As long as it’s not raining I’m okay. I like snow but only when its white-dirty snow is just not fun or pretty. My favorite is sunny weather, warm or cold. But there must be sunshine!

  34. Mary W says:

They were calling for 3-5 inches of snow and all we got was rain. I was very sad because I love snow!

  35. Glittergirl says:

SPRING has hit Oregon today :!: The sun is out  and it’s glorious today although so far still a bit cold – 48 degrees. The blossoms will be popping today — I love daffodils. Frat Boy was fun to see.

  36. Jaclin says:

65 now….gonna be 71 this afternoon here in Ft. Worth. Please send snow our way! Looks like Spring is here already because it will be 80 by end of next week. I want winter!

  37. Sharon says:

Chilly for Florida. It was 37 degrees here this morning. Our furnace has been running for several days. However, it’s supposed to be in the high 70′s by Sunday.

  38. LSUReader says:

It’s gorgeous here in south Texas–sunny and 64 degrees. Great photos of Frat Boy.

  39. Doreen B says:

I’m in Southwest Florida and it’s in the 70′s and gonna be much warmer by the weekend :)

  40. Kim Akers says:

Here in Illinois, I think we are about done with the snow. I’m the only one who thinks that’s a bad thing! But we had three fairly decent snow storms this year, and I enjoyed playing outside while it lasted!

  41. Texas Book Lover says:

We are mid 70′s and beautiful here in north Texas… although it is Texas so give a day and it will change.

  42. cindy tidrick says:

 looking forward to mid 70′s today, I love TX

  43. Cindy says:

 Sunny and we will have a high of 32 today. Snow is slowly melting. Rainy and around 40 for Sat & Sun. Keep the snow, I don’t want anymore around here. We are making up our deficit from last year. Cute Frat Boy. I have a black cat that would love to play with him.

  44. Suzy Wilson says:

The most recent big snowstorm missed us by about the length of one Michigan county, much to my delight. I am hoping the next 3 days of 40 degree weather melts off all this accumulated snow. Because our last snow storm started with an icy mix, there is still an ugly layer of ice that needs to be melted through too.

  45. Lee-Ellen says:

Gorgeous here in Orlando. It’s been cold but the days have warmed up nicely. As soon as the sun goes down though – watch out!!

Frat Boy is so cute in that last picture. I can’t resist an upside down dog!!!

  46. Donna M says:

It is overcast & cloudy here today in my area of northern California. We will probably get a light shower or two later today. We need rain so I have no complaints. Over the weekend it is suppose to be sunny & around 70 degrees. Our weather has been spring like for most of February, rain is needed & welcome!

Love the pictures of Frat Boy in the snow.

  47. Maggie says:

I agree with Bailey, DFW is up and down with the temp. It’s crazy. Sounds like you’re at least consistent up there. When it’s winter, it’s winter. Enjoy Frat boy!!!!

  48. Marcy says:

I love the pics! Frat Boy is having so much fun. LOL

We had rain a few days ago, but now it’s really cold and we’ve got more snow. Yuck.

  49. Judy F says:

Love the pics we had 6 inches of snow tues to weds. Its starting to melt already. Sunday weather is supposed to be in the high 50′s

    I love frat boy

  50. Ann Lorz says:

Today it’s not so bad. We had some snow the other day, but not that much for us here in IL.

  51. Susan says:

Today is nice and sunny in the 50s. I’m pretty surprised we haven’t had hardly any snow at all this year in Eastern Oregon. We usually have quite a bit. Guess it went your way instead this year.

  52. Quilt Lady says:

We got some snow yesterday and its still cold today, but they say its going to hit 60 degrees by Sunday and I am ready for it. I love the spring of the year when its warm. We haven’t had a lot of snow here in KY but that is the way it is here sometimes it cold and snowy or we get ice and then the weather will change at any time here.

  53. Jo says:

*sigh* Rain, again. I live on the coast of Queensland, Australia, to the north of us experienced major flooding and so did the south, luckily we did not but we get cut off which means supplies run low. The ground has not had a chance to dry off at all and now a cyclone has formed off the coast, it looks like at this stage it wont hit the coast *crosses fingers* we could really do without the extra rain.

  54. Kelly S. says:

We’re hanging out around freezing here in Mid-MI. It is suppose to warm up and get sunny, but I’ll believe it when it happens.

  55. ajdean says:

hi jill i live in melbourne and at the moment we are in the middle of a heat wave it is meant to be autmun and cooler weather but no for the next 5 days we are having over 30 degress c days.so far it has been over 30+ for 5 days and by the time we finish it we will have had over 9 days of 30+. so i say enjoy the snow.

  56. Eileen A-W says:

I love how frat boy frolics in the snow. Sort of like my 5 pound puppy. He discovered today that he was heavier than the snow & could fall through the piles. It reached 30 today (in St. Paul, Minnesota), but warmer in the sun so the snow piles are starting to melt. Heard it might reach 40 tomorrow & Saturday with rain mix on Saturday. I/m ready for spring and NO snow!!! :|

  57. Heather L says:

We had another 8 inches dumped on us Tuesday. Today was sunny and just above frezing, and I ended up doing three miles when I had only planned on a “short” walk. 40s and rain through the weekend, so looks like we’ll be losing a lot of the snow.

  58. Mona K says:

It’s cloudy rain expecting rain this weekend….it’s 37 today…after last week we got dumped with 10 inches of snow. I watched my sisters two little dogs who disappeared in the snow. It was cute. One had to pee and poop on the top on the snow…it’s was just so funny!
They went home Thursday.. and I miss them…

I love seeing Frat Boy enjoying the snow..reminds me of my Blitzy doing exactly the same…I’m ready for Spring too, and No more Snow too!!

  59. Cindy Reifel says:

Okay Jill, I’ve told you before that I’m a technophobe and, for some reason you pay no attention to me. What, are you busy or something? You keep sending me e-mails and stuff on facebook, going, “press here for my giveaways. Oh, and blog for a giveaway.” I then spend the next 15 to 30 minutes trying to figure out how to write on your blog. It would be so much easier for me if your just had a button on your home page that says Hit This to Get to my Blog and Write something on it!” for simpletons like me. Okay, now that I’ve vented, I feel better. So very happy that I live in an area where I only have to worry about racoons or possums. What is it about the snow that makes dogs idiots? When I lived in the north, My dogs would do the same thing, rolling around in the snow, then walking around and stopping every few seconds to shake one paw at a time because their feet were getting cold. Fla. is so much warmer and I don’t have to worry about stroking out or having the pee that my bladder just released freezing as it drips down my leg when I go to take the trash out and find a family of bears standing there waiting for it.

  60. Norma Stanforth says:

The snow was really flying yesterday and it was down in the teens, but today the snow is all gone, but the high is around 46, don’t like cold weather. Love the way Frat boy plays in the snow so cute. I would of let the bears have the trash or anything else as long as it wasn’t me. Awesome picture you take. Would love to win one of your books also. God bless you.
