Y’know, Highlanders actually went into battle naked (at least against the English)… because what’s scarier than a horde of Scotsmen coming at you starkers?? Clearly, some higher power must be behind them so they don’t even need armour in battle!
I’m going to be in lab, doing experiments. Apparently, finishing up a doctorate requires a few months of 7-day workweeks. Yay.

Definitely borrowing this picture for my hunky guys folder!
I have a friend visiting from Canada, so am spending the weekend taking her around my area and shopping. I just finished reading Under the Mistletoe and it was very sweet.

CRIS: If the English had been women…the naked Highlanders would never had had a chance
I have a dozen authors I read all the time, but I’ve not been able to read many books from their backlists…so I’m reading some catch-up on Lori Foster and Maya Banks while waiting patiently for IT HAD TO BE YOU. Ya’ll have a great weekend.

Shadow Woman by Linda Howard, Serendipity by Carly Phillips, and Not Planning on You by Sydney Landon. It’s the first time in a long while that I’ve had 3 books going at once. I just read whichever one I feel like reading and it may take me forever, but I hope to be finished with all three by Sunday night.

My Grandma is visiting from Arizona/Idaho. When it’s cold she lives in Arizona and when it gets hot she goes back to Idaho. We are doing a family dinner at my Uncle’s Saturday. On Sunday my SF 49ers play with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. No One likes to watch the games with me because I swear at the TV.

First off, this is one of the BEST pictures you have posted. With that said, every year my sister and I try to see all the Best Picture nominees for the Oscars. This weekend we are seeing 4 of them.

We’re having a very rare “snow day” in central NC, which translates to “We got 2 inches of snow and since no one can drive in the stuff without wrecking, please stay home until it all melts. Oh, and go out and buy all the bread, milk and toilet paper off the shelves of the local grocery store because, you know, what else could you want in a snow storm?”
Over the weekend I’m volunteering at the therapeutic riding center, cleaning four tons of animal hair out of my house, and reading. I just finished Rescue my Heart (loved it), and am now reading Can’t Buy Me Love by Molly O’Keefe, and listening to Carolina Moon on audio.

Wishing you would write about highlanders (don’t need to be historical – they can wear kilts in modern day too)! LOL! Trying to get some sleep, some stained glass projects completed, and reading (haven’t decided what – am part-way through Maya Banks Shades of Gray. Have a great weekend!

Love the pic! Usually when I see a pic of a guy in a kilt I wish for a gust of wind. But Mr. Highland Hottie above is dragging the kilt up himself. Such a helpful guy. *sigh* You could totally write a contemporary highland romance. Just locate it near an ocean for the sudden winds.
I just finished The Seduction of Elliot McBride by Jennifer Ashley that had another kilted hottie. Today I started Animal Magnetism.
I plan to finish that and move onto the next two books in that series this weekend.

You mean once I stop drooling over that picture? (And that could take a while because in my mind he’s wearing nothing under that kilt.) Going out to a friends new house for lunch. Funnily enough she is a historical writer, but she writes Regency – though after I show her this picture….

After 2 weeks of rain, I’m going to enjoy the sunshine they’re predicting! And since Sunday is my b’day, I’m going out to eat somewhere special with my family and catch up with Matthew McFayden who is starring in the new Ripper Street series.

Very scary stuff, thank goodness he is doing better.

What a picture!
I have no real plans for the weekend. Yesterday I bought a couple of new books. There are many things I should do here at home but I may take a drive, do something fun in the nice weather. Today I am getting a much needed haircut. Yea!! Also doing much needed laundry so I continue to have necessary clothing!!!
Everyone enjoy your weekend whatever you do.

Highland romances are so satisfying. What’s keeping you from a highlander visiting Lucky Harbor?
That would be VERY interesting…
Posted on January 18th, 2013 at 7:57 pmI’m taking it easy and reading Kate Douglas’ DREAM UNCHAINED. Ah can she write hot guys in any romance time, aliens included.

I’m going to see the Black Watch and Band of the Scots Guard in two weeks. Lots of men in kilts that night!
Posted on January 18th, 2013 at 8:49 pmLee-Ellen Foss says:
OMG – that guy!!
Just wanted to tell you that I love your books and I love checking out this website since I just discovered it recently. The photos of where you live look absolutely gorgeous but I have to say it was the snow in Boston that had us relocating to Orlando, Florida eighteen years ago and we haven’t regretted it for a minute.
Keep up the good work. I appreciate it.

I just finished “Rescue My Heart,” which I loved and savored (I re-read the first two before starting it). Your series are my favorites, because it’s such a good feeling to be able to go back to a place and people I already know and care about. Is there a such thing as a sequel to a romance novel? I’m thinking no, since each ends with a HEA – but there are people I would love to revisit!
This weekend..reading “Gone Girl” for book group; getting the house in order after two weeks of having all three sons (21, 24, 28) home for two weeks; possibly baking snickerdoodles.
Posted on January 19th, 2013 at 8:52 pmLisa says:
Right at this moment, I believe I’m going to sit here and ponder highlander historicals along with you. *That’s TOTALLY what I’m pondering, and NOT the fact that real Scotsmen go commando*
Posted on January 19th, 2013 at 10:32 pmAmy says:
Wish I was spending it with that guy!!!! In reality I am working. Ugh!!
Posted on January 19th, 2013 at 10:50 pmTori says:
Well, I wish I was doing him this weekend!
But, instead I entertained all weekend long. We had friends over for pizza and movies on Friday night, Saturday night we had my family over (24 people!), grilled steaks and had game night to celebrate my Mom’s 79th birthday. Tonight another friend is coming over and we’re going to drink wine, go through catalogs and pick out items for her to sell in her little gift shop which makes me ridiculously excited for some reason. I’m going to need to go back to work just to recuperate.
Posted on January 20th, 2013 at 7:42 amCateS says:
He’s got to be going commando… no other reason for the lining in the kilt.. yum…

I keep coming back to this picture…
Posted on January 21st, 2013 at 8:16 amTania Reed says:
I keep coming back to this photo too. Who says the book has to be about a highlander. Couldn’t it just be about an eccentric lad with a sencse of humour living in the mountains as a free spirit
Posted on January 21st, 2013 at 1:12 pmDhana B says:
You can still write about hottie Scotties in kilts. Just have your heroine run amuk at the Highlanders Games! hehe
