Monday’s Musings

December 31, 2012 | Filed under: Stuff

Yesterday Frat Boy and I went on a snow shoe hike. My thighs are still quivering from making our way through five feet of fresh powder.

Frat Boy is ready for more. His New Year’s resolution is to drag my sorry behind out every single day. My New Year’s resolution is to eat less cookies so I don’t have to hike so long to keep my butt the same size.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

  1. Bet Lantaff says:

Love the pic. Looks like he’s sticking his tongue out at you saying, “you can’t catch me!” My resolution is not to make any resolution. Therefore, I can’t break one.

  2. Gwen says:

I don’t make resolutions any more because I usually end up breaking them.

  3. MaryAnne says:

I resolve to read more because doing so takes me to places far afield from where I really am.
I also resolve to take more fast walks because it’s the easiest way to get rid of the unwanted pounds.

Jill, I wish you and both your families (personal and your bloggers) a very Happy New Year. May you all prosper and have all your dearest wishes come to fruition.

  4. Kelly W. says:

I’m not a big resolution person either. I need the right mindset and this time of year I don’t have it! Good luck to everyone who does though!

  5. LeeAnn says:

more exercise…we’ll see how it goes…lol Have a wonderful and safe New Year.

I have goals, rather than resolutions instead. But I don’t put a time limit on them so I won’t feel guilty breaking them. My goal for 2013 is have less stress. Just let it roll off my back and keep going on with my life cause its too short to be worried about it.

Happy New Year Jill! May 2013 bring you nothing but happiness and some #1 best sellers.

    Have a wonderful night!

  16. Kelly S says:

To try and live life better. I have a SIL with liver cancer. She has been fighting it for 6 years now. Recently, I realized she has spent much of this time ‘dying’ not taking the time to ‘live.’ This might simply be an attitude change, I don’t know, but it was my wake up call too. I don’t have a life threatening disease but I don’t know how long I have either, so I want to change my attitude & priorities to live life not just get through it.

  17. Deb Buxton says:

Just all the usual stuff. Happy New Year!!!

  18. Shana says:

Eat less sweets, lose some weight, also giving myself an attitude adjustment need to start living with my glass half full instead of half empty all the time!

  19. Jeanne C says:

Resolution: to exercise more so my butt doesn’t stay the same size.

Wishing you and your family, and all who vist here, a very happy, healthy and safe new year.

After Hurricane Sandy, the nor’easter and The Newtown shootings, I resolve to appreciate all of our blessings, including 2 healthy grandsons, and Jill’s books which make us laugh and see the positives in life. Thanks Jill! Happy New Year!

    Love the picture.

  27. JenM says:

Good luck with the “less cookies” vow. That one never works for me either. Instead, I just keep dragging my butt to the gym to work off the cookies that I can’t resist eating.

  28. Linda Henderson says:

I try not to call them resolutions, I call it a goal. I’m going to try and lose weight so I can improve my blood pressure and blood sugar level.

  29. Deanna says:

I’m going to write the story that’s in my head. It’ll probably suck out loud, but at least I’ll have it on a computer file.

I’m going to actually use my gym membership and floss daily. Oh and pass the last two parts of the CPA exam. I try to keep my resolutions somewhat doable and realistic.

  34. Eileen A-W says:

I don’t make resolutions, but one thing I do want to accomplish, besides the usual, is to read most of the books on my kindle that I’ve downloaded. I keep downloading more & more, but don’t find time to start reading them. Reading paper copies instead of other books. I also plan to retire in June from 36 years of teaching. So now I have to figure out what I want to do so I don’t go stir crazy.

I walk about two mile every day due to the issues I have had with my back this year, now they tell me I have a bad hip having that checked out in Jan. Since before Christmas I have slipped up on my walks but need to get them going again. I have started back again but some days I just get in a mile, must do better then that.

  38. Sharlene Wegner says:

Some sort of exercise every day. Happy New Year!

My big thing this year is too not let my fear of failure keep me from succeeding at things!

  40. Caroline Storer says:

    Write more! ;-)

  41. Caroline Storer says:

    …and blog less. ;-)

  42. Kai W. says:

To work for a better relationship with my estranged sister.

  43. Laurel Skoog says:

No resolution but I AM going to be healthier this year! I started working out on a regular basis back in August and have stuck with it so far…so I’m just going to keep going.

  44. Tamica says:

To spend less money on things… But don’t worry your books don’t count
To see a movie once a month not like I did last year every movie like every week. So yeah. Let the games begin. :)
