I made it to Friday

August 10, 2012 | Filed under: Stuff

I didn’t think I would make to Friday. I’ve been working 24/7, around the clock, on this book that is GIVING ME GAS just so that you know … and maybe I’ve been a little bit grumpy. The family dragged me kicking and screaming from my computer and took me out on the lake. They put me in the princess spot on the boat and … low and behold. I had fun.

Middle did too. Here she is showing off:

Oh to have the cajones to do that.

Now tell me about you. What are you reading this week?

  1. aida alberto says:

I just discovered Jen Lancaster. OMG is she funny. She might rub people the wrong way because of her language but if you’re not offended by that she is one of the funniest writers I’ve discovered. I also downloaded Ruthie Knox’s books because I had heard so much about them and another by Toni Blake. They are all new to me writers because I read so much and so fast I’m always looking for new writers. I also bought a new e-reader so I’m having a ball with my new toy. I bought the Nook simple touch e-reader and let me tell you for what I paid for it it’s a very high quality e-reader. Very easy to set up which my Sony e-reader wasn’t and I love with wireless features and the pre-order choice so I can keep up with my authors.

  2. Kelli B. says:

I just finished Cherished by Maya Banks and Lauren Dane. I loved it!! I’m now starting That Thing Called Love by Susan Andersen.

p.s. I would totally jump off that like middle did.

  3. Diane Engelhardt says:

That looks like fun. I could maybe jump off front forward…camping this weekend at the lake leaving the jet skiis home but taking boat cuz Sunday is a work party and all those crazies on jet skiis??? No way!! Boat activity much easier to control. Wakeboards skiis and 2 tubes should be sufficient. I am working thru the Sullivan’s by Bella Andre. I am on Gabe. They are good. Bought some of your other books at the used book store and will work on them…non Lucky Harbor. I guess that is like Kindle sharing which I don’t do. But still bad for the author…never thought of it before Lori posted that article…

  4. Rochelle L says:

I like to read trilogies back to back. So I am reading your 3 newest. Just finished Lucky in Love and am almost finished with At Last. Great books and the chocolate quotes are hilarious.

  5. Kelly W. says:

Oh to be young again! Has Middle been watching the Olympics by chance? Well, I have. So during commercials I have been reading All Summer Long by Susan Mallery. Up next is Heron’s Cove by Carla Neggers.

  6. Liza says:

I’m reading Chloe Neill’s Biting Cold. I needed my Chicagoland Vampire fix. :)

  7. MaryAnne says:

Sorry your next BEST-SELLER is giving you GAS…try Maalox
Middle has more cajones than most…you go girl!
This week alone I’ve read Robb’s Creation in Death, Lorelei James’ One Night Rodeo, and Forever and A Day (great!). I’m rereading Simply Irresistible. Maddie and Jax’ chemistry is so volatile it’s a miracle they didn’t burn down the Inn forget about getting it up to code. Oh, and I still love the drunk-under-the-Christmas-tree scene and the next morning when Maddie slams the door in Jax’s face (twice)…peed my pants
Thank you for your hard work…have a great weekend.

  8. Melanie says:

Nope, I surely don’t have the cajones Middle does, lol. I’m reading Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris. And to Aida Alberto-I’ve read all of Jen Lancaster’s books and she really is hilarious. Definitely an author you laugh out loud to while reading, lol.

  9. Dani from Brazil says:

I read books 2 & 3 of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River series, there’s some heavy stuff there, but the books are so so good. ;-)

  10. Pat L. says:

Reading Karen Hawkins’ Talk of the Town.

I wish I had all the cajones that your girls have.

  11. Amy H. says:

I am reading Where We Belong by Emily Giffin.

  12. Jill W says:

I am re-reading Vivian Arends “Granite Lake Wolves” series.

  13. Dee (CT) says:

Last night I finished All Summer Long by Susan Mallery. Not sure what I am going to pick up next… Maybe Still the One by Robin Wells, or The River Witch by Kimberly Brock…. both of those are new authors to me.

Already read recently Forever And A Day. Also read A Sweethaven Homecoming by Courtney Walsh.

  14. Audri Cox says:

Just finished the “Wilder Brothers” Series!!! AWESOME !!!! Now I am headed to your book list to see what I want to start next!!!

  15. Wendy Anderson says:

I just finished a book called “Seducing Cinderella” by a brand new author named Gina L. Maxwell. It was fabulous!!!!

  16. Missy says:

I like to read series so I just started your Lucky Harbor one ~ read Simply Irresistible yesterday, I wouldn’t put it down until I finished, totally loved it and laughed so hard!!!!! Just started the Sweetest Thing.

    Have a good weekend!

  17. Maureen a Sacchetti says:

Hello, Well I am sorry if this is a repeat. I snet a reply, but where did it go is the question?
So glad you were out on the lake Jill..Why do we always do that thing to ourselves, when a little decomprssing is like magic..We all should “escape” a little..
I am inhaling the ” Eternity Springs ” series by Emily March..Makes me miss the “Wilder Bros.”..wow those were favorites too..Speaking of Emily March, please keep her in your thoughts..she shared a pix of the fires that she could see from her deck..So scary in TX right now..
As for your middle child..he is a super hero in the making…I bet he makes your heart stop sometimes..lol..My oldest grandson was that way too..xo, snowhugs

  18. Hope says:

I really need to say this to you Jill…I love your books, more and more…Adore Chloe and now I also adore Amy and Grace…go figure….
    Love your stories etc

BUT yes, there is a but…I really wanted you to have Grace’s family at the end of the book…..I wanted them to see her differently…and I feel as if the book is not done.

I hope you dont mind me saying this…I was rooting so hard for her and I just wanted that kind of closure

Thanks for writing these books. They help me use my tread mill longer and longer (yes I read on my treadmill)

    Hope

  19. Karen W says:

I so can not do what your Middle did….terrified of heights.

I am currently reading the first Sullivan book from Bella Andre. Once that is done, I have like 5 books to download onto my kindle today, if hubby gives me the a-ok. My poor wishlist is 6 pages long on Amazon, so I would like to make it a bit smaller. Plus he owes me for my birthday last month, I told him I wanted some books that didn’t come out until the end of the month, so I can get them now, or so I hope.

Hope everyone have a safe and wonderful weekend.

  20. Tracy S says:

I totally would have done that at her age. Now? No way!!

I’m sorry the book is giving you fits, but my experience as a reader is that when an author says that–said book is AWESOME!

  21. Traci says:

No cajones here. Glad you were dragged out for a break though. You deserve it! Just finished reading Hidden Summit by Robyn Carr and now I finally get to start Forever and a Day! Can’t wait! Have a great weekend!

  22. Mary Jeanne Hoover says:

Yikes! As a mom that made my stomach jump! Reading Samurai Game by Christine Feehan.

  23. Denise says:

Will finish up Echos at Dawn by Maya Banks tonight and next up will be Forever and a Day!! I am so tempted to put down Echo’s (only 75 pages left) and jump right into Forever and a Day because I can’t wait to see what you have in store for Josh. He sounds you cool!!!! I am hoping for rain this weekend so I can spend all day Saturday curled up with Josh and Grace.

  24. Theresa says:

Hi: I met you in Anaheim and I meant to ask you, will you be writing a book to follow The Heat is on? I loved that book.

  25. Kathleen O says:

I just finished The Great Escape by Susan Elizabeth Phiilips… I had a tough time getting into this book. Somthing that never happens to me with one of her books.. It was a bit slow starting, but once i got into it, I could not put in down.. Read until I fell asleep and then woke up early this morning to finish it.. I think it was just my mood maybe at the time I started the book.. I guess it just took a rainy day to make me settle down and read it..And I was not sorry I did…

  26. Michelle H. says:

Still on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. These books are so long!!

Just a side note.. I glanced at the sidebar and noticed a picture that looked familiar. This picture is the cover of the reprint for Instant Gratification. I swear, I’ve seen this picture before. And I have discovered why… it’s cause I’ve read a book with that image on it before  http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1328040394l/13235959.jpg

I’m not too sure if I like that they used the same pic :x

  27. Allie says:

I had to laugh over your title for this post because when I woke up, an hour late, that was all I could think – I made it. The week is practically over. Finally.

I am almost finished with Forever and a Day. It has been a wonderful read. Next up is The Haunting of Maddy Clare. I heard it was a ghost story so will try it out.

  28. Vanessa says:

I just ordered your Get A Clue. Fun read. :) Last book I read was Forever and a Day. Before that Ideal Man by Julie Garwood.

  29. Susan says:

Hope, I read on my treadmill too! That’s the only way I stay on it as long as I do. Uninterupted reading time too since everyone is afraid to talk to me while I’m exercising.

I’m just finishing Forever and a Day. Next up is the latest Sookie book (Definately Dead? I can’t remember the name) then I’m checking out some of the new to me authors listed above.

  30. Jan says:

    Moonshell Beach – JoAnn Ross

  31. Verena says:

Finally received ‘Forever and a Day’ today! German Amazon has been completely unreliable with preordered books for the last few months, I hate that!
But now me weekend is saved and I’m so looking forward to reading this book tonight.

  32. Donna M says:

I just happen to be reading Forever and a Day, which I am loving. It was so hot yesterday I did a lot of reading. Today is more of the same so I will get it finished in between laundry & a couple of other things.

As a mom I think that might give me a heart attack! Thanks for the video I love that Middle is so athletic. She rocks!!

Have a great weekend. Good luck with the book. The break was good for you, clears the head.

  33. Cari White says:

Reading Double Play right now. Holly was just cooling herself off with ice and is now down in the bar…

  34. Judy F says:

    Yikes.

Reading At Last by a very talented author

  35. Judy F says:

Wrong title… Forever and a Day.

    Sigh I am tired

  36. Kendra says:

Am reading the one book I’ve been avoiding like the plague – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Was forced to as we’re analyzing it as part of a workshop at the RWNZ Conference. And am loving it. But don’t tell anyone, I’ve been griping about having to read it for months.

  37. Kelly S says:

I spent last night reading for hours to finish Forever and a Day. :)

    Grace was awesome!

Now, I am waiting for Rescue My Heart.

  38. Jeanne C says:

    Forever and a Day.

  39. aj dean says:

just finished yesterday linda fairstein’s nightwatch and about to start fireproof by alex kava.

  40. Leslie says:

Well, I had planned to be reading Forever and a Day (by a certain author) as one of my reads this week. HOWEVER, my local Wally World did not yet have it available, and I did not have time to drive 80 miles round trip to get to a real bookstore. I’m taking a break from the world of Westeros and am reading Secretariat by William Nack (really interesting book about the horse and the world of horse racing). I’m also reading Stephanie Tyler’s Too Hot to Hold (I’m enjoying this series–strong heroes who walk a bit on the wild side and the strong women who ground them). The final thing I’m reading are the owner’s manuals for my new (to me) vehicle (if I changed vehicles more often than once a decade I bet the changes in technology would be much less jarring).

  41. Michelle Harlan says:

This weekend, I have 3 books to tackle. I just got in my Amazon order & plan on doing nothing but reading, with a few sessions of FB & blog-checking in between. I’m reading Lori Wilde’s latest, The Cowboy and the Princess & her book Kiss the Bride (which is actually 2 of her Wedding Veil series books). Then, I’m gonna’ tackle Lisa Kleypas’ Dream Lake.

  42. Yvonne says:

OH my, I just finished Forever and a Day (Wonderful)…I LOVE your books!! I’m a big fan! Thank you for doing what you do!

  43. ev says:

They took down the bridge we used to jump off. Wonder why?

I’m reading Lisa Kleypas’ Dream Lake. In between watching basketball games.

  44. Lisa Hutson says:

Lisa Kleypas. Friday Harbor series. Just getting a good handle on Beach Lake. Unique. Fantastic so far.

  45. Lisa Hutson says:

Middle is incredible. She needs a poster, her picture with the words….”What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?” I bet there is not much she is afraid to try.

  46. Diana says:

I’m reading Scandal in Spring by Lisa Kleypas, the fourth book in her Wallflower series. Am loving it so far!

  47. Jeanine says:

I am reading Darker After Midnight by Lara Adrian. I haven’t read since Wednesday because I’ve been having a bad sciatica attack that eventually landed me in the ER. Still home from work, taking some heavy duty meds, and I’m going to try and read. I have to books on my Nook from the library to read after (Sylvia Day’s Seven Days to Sin, and The Help) before I read Forever and a Day! Hopefully once I’m better, I’ll get back into the swing of reading :)
