Conversation with Alpha Man
June 26, 2012 | Filed under: Stuff
Let me preface this by saying that after I got lost in New York last month without a phone or a credit card or any cash, Alpha Man bought me an iPhone. I had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the smart phone age, a problem he solved by simply turning off my old phone. Hmph. This, my dear readers and friends, is why you do NOT marry an Alpha Man.
ANYWAY, my new iPhone has this lady in it. Siri. I talk to her and she talks to me. So without further ado, here’s a conversation I just had:
Me:
I told Siri to remind me I was scheduled for a bang trim at noon tomorrow.
Alpha Man:
And?
Me:
And Siri she said she would remind me at noon tomorrow that I was scheduled for a bang.
Alpha Man:
Can you ask her to schedule me for a bang too?
p.s. I’m at the USA Today romance blog today, come visit!
p.s.s. AT LAST should be on the shelves wherever books are sold now, don’t forget that if you take a pic of you reading it, in print or on your ereader, and post the pic to my FB page, you’ll be entered to win FOREVER AND A DAY!

Oh how I love starting my day with a laugh! Thank you! Even better At Last showed up on my Kindle last night 20 minutes sooner than I expected so I am no longer Lucky Harborless.

Thanks for the laugh this morning. You have now explained by I only have a dumb phone..I can talk on it and take pictures (but I haven’t yet). As soon as my Kindle recharges I am downloading you book. In the meantime, I will eat breakfast, empty the dishwasher, feed my little dog. We have a black bear roaming our county which is unusual so I may check for bears, too.

Posted on June 26th, 2012 at 5:54 amThank you for starting my day with a ban—er, banter. Much needed ’cause FL is under state of emergency. Am waiting for At Last to lift the storm clouds.

Alpha Man is such a smooth talker! Nice!
Just don’t become the person in the commercial that seems to talk to the phone for a general conversation because they are lonely… And try not to drop it in the lake!
Congrats on At Last. I know it will be a success!

Oh Jill, I smelled that one a mile away! Thanks for making me laugh this morning.
And I’m just waitin’ for Amazon to ship my pre-order… Personally, I think they have this note under my name that says, “Nope. Make her wait for all her books. Just because we can do this.” But I’m looking forward to it!

I’m the type of evil person who would (if Alpha Man has a smart phone as well) ask HIS Siri to set a reminder when I knew he would be with a few co-workers who would hear something like “Alpha: Don’t forgot to prep for your bang in four hours”.

Posted on June 26th, 2012 at 9:13 amDenise says:
I love this for two reasons: (1) almost makes me want to get an I phone; and (2) lets me know my hubby and I aren’t the only ones to engage in what my teen refers to as “pervy” banter.

You gotta love an Alpha Man. That would be mild for my hubby. However I got my iphone in the same way you did

Posted on June 26th, 2012 at 10:06 amThis convo also reminds me of the song Business Time by Flight of the Concords- you should play it for him and then ask him if he has his business socks on (listen to the song and it will make sense lol).
Donna M says:
Alpha Man is so “male”!!!
Hope to get a copy of At Last later this week.
The laugh from you & my early morning photography jaunt have given my day a great start.

I got my phone the same way, but I really liked the woman at the store who would not shut off my phone until the hubs called and told me he was doing it. Alpha man, meet Alpha woman.

Hi again…
I just wanted to tell you I just got a message from Fresh Fiction with today’s “spotlight”, Jill Shalvis. I hope that helps sell a lot of books.

Good one! I can text or talk on my phone & that is about it. I have to get reading glasses out for that, so forget about a smart phone. And I am with Gale in that I pre-order like 6 mos in advance & Amazon still sends me my books 1-2 wks after release date.

Hubby: (as I wait on him hand and foot after having surgery) I don’t know what I did to deserve you!
Me: When you figure it out, God will forgive you.
Finally, I got the punch line in on him.

Jill, I love your books. I only have two of them but I will be buying more.
Posted on June 26th, 2012 at 6:17 pmSabrina R. says:
Oh, thanks for the laugh – it was much needed today.
My husband probably would have come up with the same sort of response!
Posted on June 26th, 2012 at 6:51 pmKelly S says:
Maybe Siri can schedule you and Alpha man for a bang together? Probably shouldn’t have gone there.
So do you like the phone now?
Oh, also, I refuse to do Facebook. Would a tweet be an option? Perhaps either include you on it or a specific hashtag?
Posted on June 26th, 2012 at 7:32 pmLisa in California says:
My kids love taking my husbands phone and asking questions. The responses are always funny and crack us all up.
Kids: Siri, I love you.
Siri: Oh, Mike, you are so sweet.
Kids: Siri, who’s the fairest of them all?
Siri: You are, of course.
Kids: Siri, you are the best!
Siri: That is so sweet of you to say.
Kids: Siri, I love you so much.
Posted on June 27th, 2012 at 2:26 pmSiri: Mike, you are the wind beneath my wings.
