Whatcha Reading?

September 2, 2010 | Filed under: Stuff

I turned on my Sony reader to show you all I what I was reading, and found this:

Sweet, right? Oldest does have her moments. Anyway, what I’m reading is Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon. Yes, still. This is because the book is 10,000 pages. Okay maybe only 1,000 pages. And I don’t care, I’m LOVING it. Well, to be honest, I’m loving Jamie Fraser, the hero. He’s possibly the yummiest hero of all time.

Now you. What are YOU reading? And liking it or no? Inquiring minds need to know.

  1. Pat L. says:

The Homecoming by Joann Ross. Pretty Good.

  2. Cecile says:

I sooo have that one except mine is black… I love it! And I am reading… The Swing by Lissa Matthews!!!

And you are right, they do have their moments!
Hugs and have a great Friday!

  3. Allie says:

I love when you ask this question. I find so many new things I want to read this way. Nalini Singh does a Friday Book Club at her blog, which is another fun place to find new-to-me stuff.

Right now I am reading Midnight Crystal by Jane Castle. It’s the last in the Dreamlight trilogy and it is wonderful so far (and I just started). I love all her stuff, under all her names. :) I am especially fond of the Harmony books because I just adore the dust bunnies. So cute and yet so fierce. :)

  4. Allie says:

Oops. It’s Jayne Castle. I forgot the Y.

  5. Laure says:

I just finished Lady of the Forest by Jennifer Roberson — how the Robin Hood legends began. Totally loved it, especially Robin’s relationship with Marian. Of course, I’m a huge Robin Hood junkie, so I am a bit biased. But waiting impatiently for the Fed-Ex dude to deliver the sequel.

I’ve got Naked in Death on my Kindle, but haven’t had a whole lot of time to get to it. Just about everyone I know has insisted I need to read this series. So far, so good.

  6. Trish says:

I’m half way through two books, but I am on a break now to crochet a blanket for my grandaughters 3rd birthday. I only have 31 days left. No pressure. lol

  7. Lyn says:

I’m currently reading Taming Her Billionaire Boss by Maxine Sullivan. I’ve got a couple of other Desires lined up to read when I’m done with this one. Definitely liking this one.

There is a handful of other stories I’d like to be reading, but short of discovering some way to convince the publishers to realize that people who read ebooks don’t just live in North America, it will probably be a while before I can afford to buy them (in print form :???: )

  8. Sarah says:

Just finished It’s Hotter in Hawaii by HelenKay Dimon. Loved it, as usual. ;-)

  9. kris says:

Right now I’m reading One Scream Away by Kate Brady and it’s really good.

  10. tennismom mary g says:

Just read Kiss Me if You Can & Love Me If You Dare by Carly Phillips. I enjoy her writing. Just started Black Magic by Cherry Adair & it’s great.

  11. Jennifer M says:

I just finished The Heat is On, loved it!

Now reading Seduction in death, Roarke is in it, need I say more!

  12. Fannie says:

I just finished Christine Feehan’s “Dark Peril” and am starting Jayne Castle’s “Midnight Crystal”. So far, it’s good. Have a great day everyone.

  13. Jo says:

Just started Love me if you Dare by Carly Phillips.. I also picked up Renegade by Lora Leigh and Ghost Moon by Heather Graham.. Still looking for Susan Mallerys Finding Perfect. Walmarts slacking again.

  14. Stacy ~ says:

I’m reading Shiloh Walker’s veil of Shadows – so good.

Jamie is the BEST! <3 him ;)

  15. Ashley says:

I’m almost finished with Susan Mallery’s Finding Perfect. Love this series. Before this one I read Roughing It With Ryan, which was great, now I’m going to have to get Ty and Mac!

  16. Ange says:

Finished up Star Island last night. If you want a laugh then give it a shot. It had me laughing through out the whole book.

Started Mockingjay this morning. This has to be one of the best YA series that I have read. Suzanne Collins does a great job with it.

  17. Judy F says:

I am reading Protector’s Temptation by Marilyn Pappano. I love her books.

Next up is Close Quarters by Lucy Monroe

    Love your note.

  18. Farrah says:

I just finished Mockingjay last night, and Ange is right, it is an amazing YA series.

  19. Kristina says:

I’m reading a book called twenties girl by Sophie Kinsella, it’s not bad… Weird… :D

  20. Gwen says:

I’m reading my favorite book this year so far … SLOW HEAT. By you.

  21. kc says:

Renegade by Lora Leigh. Love those bad boys.

Undead and Unfinished by Mary Janice Davidson. Loved this series in the beginning but I think it’s kinda loosing it’s appeal for me.

Next up… Maybe This Time by Jennifer Crusie.

  22. Brandy says:

I”m reading Midnight Crystal by Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz, Amanda Quick).
I also just picked up Married with Zombies by Jesse Petersen, Driven to Ink by Karen E. Olsen and can’t wait to start Into the Wild by Beth Ciotta.

  23. Susan says:

Just finished the new Sookie book, Dead in the Family. Now I’m on to Corralled by Lorelei James, then up is Renegade by Lora Leigh and Divided in Death.

If Jill can honestly say Jamie Fraser is as great as Roarke, I’m going to have to check out Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon.

  24. Booklover1335 says:

    Hey Jill,
That’s such a sweet note. I love little surprises like that. They are the BEST!

Speaking of best Jamie Fraser is the BEST! I love the first 3-4 books in this series. I’ve reread them several times, but I always seem to stop after Drums of Autumn. Books 5-7 kind of loose some of the magic that was the first 3 books. Especially Echo in the Bone. I’ll be interested to see what you think of it once you get to it.

BTW I found the series between books 4 & 5 being published and devoured them one after the other. I had an eye doctor appt during this time and my prescription doubled because of the reading I did. That’s never happened since. I totally blame Diana because I read until the wee hours and just couldn’t stop. There’s a reason why she jokingly (but accurately) created a “methadone” reading list for her fans.

  25. kc says:

totally off topic, but you must check out today’s photo of the day at AAG…

…it sure as hell made my morning.

  26. Donna M says:

Love the surprise note on your Sony reader. Those are the best surprises.

I’m reading The Homecoming by JoAnn Ross. So far I am loving it. I’ve kind of been on a JoAnn Ross reading streak! I’ve also recently read Infamous by Suzanne Brockmann & Crossfire by JoAnn Ross. Not sure what is up next.

Everyone have a great weekend. Stay safe if you are on the road.

  27. Liza says:

I’m reading several books right now and loving them all. Currently reading Savor the Moment by Nora Roberts, Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane, When Blood Calls by JK Beck, and Twice Bitten by Chloe Neill.

  28. Laurie G says:

I’m just starting Alison Kent’s Icing On the Cake and Diane Castell’s Hot Summer Nights!!

Loved Mira Lynn Kelly’s Wild Fling Or a Wedding Ring

  29. Debra W says:

I’m reading Dark Peril by Christine Feehan, Small Favor by Jim Butcher (Harry Dresden series–great BTW) and about to start the Mageverse series by Angela Knight (King Arthur and his knights as vampires–yummy-can’t wait).

  30. Naoma says:

The White by Deborah Larsen, about this young 16 year old girl gets kidnapped by the Shawnee back in 1758. Still reading it, will let you know how it turns out.

  31. Hannah says:

I just finished “Cowgirl Up and Ride” and “Tied Up, Tied Down” by Lorelei James, “Letters From Home” by Rhonda Nelson, and “Storm Watch” by you!

Now I’m finishing up “The Darkest Pleasure” by Gena Showalter and “Corralled” by Lorelei James.

I’m a little iffy about reading Diana Gabaldon after reading some of the reviews for her Outlander series.
