Mom On Strike
March 28, 2010 | Filed under: Stuff
This is the sign I put on my sink on Friday, shortly after a PMS-fueled meltdown of epic proportions.

To my shock, it has worked. Not a single dish has been left in the sink all weekend. Of course the counter is another thing entirely …
In the meantime. Wild Man, aka Jake is stealing hearts left and right. We still haven’t figured out the mystery of why he always puts his butt high in the air …

One thing about Mountain Barbie, she was a sweetheart, and a great dog, but if she’d been a person, she’d have been the quintessential mountain bum, laid-back and easy-going. In Mountain Barbie’s world, there was never a reason to run when you could walk, or use unnecessary energy when you could be napping.
Wild Man is … well, wild. If he was a person, he’d be a frat boy. A real party guy. There’s always a good time to be had in Jake’s world. He’s doubled in size since we rescued him a two weeks ago. He’s no longer so skinny you can count his every rib. His nose isn’t running anymore. And he always, ALWAYS, wants to be in the center of it all.
He’s the most adorable thing we’ve ever seen.

But constantly looking for that good time …

Awe Jake is too too cute! Heh – constant play bowing?
Posted on March 28th, 2010 at 8:14 pmDoubled in size is “ack” territory for me though. I think I prefer medium sized dogs. And those can do enough damage already!

OMG – he is so adorable!! My 10 yo dog still puts her butt in the air. I think it’s their way of being prepared to take off at any minute. I think only the mischievous ones do it.
And I need to try the sign on the sink!

Looks like a play bow from here. You’ve got it right—It’s par-ty all the time.
Posted on March 28th, 2010 at 9:12 pmIt’s astonishing how fast the large breeds grow. In a couple more weeks your neighbors will be asking what happened to the puppy you used to have.
Allie says:
I vote for play bow as well. “Come play with me! Somebody? Hey! Put that camera down and get over here!”
He is so CUTE!! Frat boy is a great description. That’s so funny. I bet he fits right in there in your house. LOL

He is adorable. Party on dude. LOL
My cat does the butt up in the air thing. He is 12 and I have never figured it out.
Congrats on the Rita nod

I can’t stop laughing! I love that sign. I totally relate and I only have one teenager, I am living in fear of the day the 3 younger boys are all teens at the same time.

Ha! It would figure they’d find away around a direct order from the Dish Fairy *g*
Jake is a real heartbreaker. I’d party with him any time. Those eyes just make you melt. Party on, Wild Man!

Posted on March 29th, 2010 at 4:49 amI just finished reading Instant Temptation and loved it, but also sad that there will be no more Wilder men.

What a cutie – but what happened to the name “Wild Boy?” My male dog likes to put his butt up in the air, to him it means lets play. Of course, he also sticks it in your face when sitting on the sofa.

OMG what a cutie. The frat boy personality will always keep you laughing(and pulling out your hair). Our golden has the same personality type. thankfully he’s outgrown the chewing stage, but still loves stealing shoes, mornings at our house consist of everyone yelling, “Dammit Riley, where you hide my shoe!!!”. Love the sign, has never worked for me, my signs just disappear. I should be getting my book tomorrow via Pony express(UPS)…just in time since I’m having knee surgery tomorrow and will be immobile for weeks(ack)

What a cutie dog! Love the name Frat boy! Hopefully as he grows up he will mature out of that stage!!
Glad to hear that your dish sign worked! I put dishes in the sink but I’m the only one here so no sign is necessary!
D, good luck with your knee surgery.

Oh yeah, that’s a play bow. An invitation to come and roll around with him
He’s gorgeous. (I have puppy envy. Mine has decided he is a Sedate Old Man. Until he hears the fridge door open, and he’s there, all bright-eyed and waggy-tailed, sitting patiently and hoping for a bit of chicken…)

Haven’t commented in a while, but just have to say, if that face doesn’t say “Thank You”, I don’t know what does. So glad you have this new addition to your family and blog.
