Update: SORRY I took so long to pick the winners, shame on me!!! Random.org says #3, 14 and 54. Email me with a few book choices and your snailmail. ![]()
So it was one of those days. You know, lost my keys, puppy peed on the rug, ran out of milk, and used salt instead of sugar in my iced tea.
Ugh.
Could use a little happy. So here’s an excerpt from one of my books. Name it and I’ll draw names from the correct guesses. Winners get their choice of book from my back list.
Excerpt:
Her plan was to swim past him, out as far as she could get, hopefully ridding herself of as much of her restless energy as possible, and only when she could be sure to keep in control, would she turn back.
She got maybe a stroke past him when she felt a big, warm hand close around her ankle. She kicked, but he was far stronger than she, and pulled her back against him.
She fought, but he merely wrapped two long, hard arms around her and lifted her to the surface for air.
The air was shimmering hot, the water icy cold, his body a perfect mix of hard sinew and warm skin. A paradox, because her instincts were at odds.
Fight him.
Hold onto him.
Kiss him.
Splash him.
God. She wanted to do all of it, and all that heated, strong, sleek flesh was pressed up against hers. In fact, staring into his stark green eyes, eyes that didn’t attempt to hide a thing from her, she was having a hard time remembering that she was supposed to be fighting him at all, or why she even wanted to.
Then he smiled; a soft, sweet, sexy smile, and she was lost. She smiled back, and let her fingers play in his hair. Just for a minute, she told herself. Then he dipped his head close to hers, kissing her cheek, then letting his mouth skim the edge of her jaw, and she sighed in pleasure, closing her eyes, melting into him, all resistance gone, and—
And he dunked her.
Think you know it? Post the title. Also feel free to post how to house train a stubborn but adorable puppy, your favorite tea, and the secret to NOT wanting to strangle your wayward teenager. ‘Kay, thanks.

Sorry can’t help with the puppy & wayward teen (my daughter is only 5). But as far as tea goes- I love White Tea with Island Mango & Peach it’s by Lipton (pyramid tea bags).

Also, sorry you’re having a rough day Jill. I can sympathize. I”m dog sitting for my sister, and doggeh decided to knock over coke on to my mac book pro. It’s still alive, thank God (which is how I can be online) but typing is a… well female dog.
I would’ve killed her if I didn’t love her so much.

Instant Grat but I already won a book so don’t enter me. I like Nestea Zero Iced Tea. Everything else seems too sweet or bitter to me. I’ve never had a dog so no help there. I used to say to my son “I brought you into this world & I can take you out” lol. He took Personal Finance Math in Grade 11 & realized he would not make it on his own. That’s all it took. Maybe have teen train the puppy & take care of both.

As for the puppy, well, my puppy mill rescue took a full year to totally train, so I’m probably not the one to ask.
Favorite tea is raspberry green tea. And I believe it is perfectly normal to want to strangle your teenager. I know I’ve wanted to strangle mine more than once.

Posted on March 25th, 2010 at 6:10 amIt really depends on whether I want my tea hot or iced. Constant Comment is only good for me if it’s hot. I love Orange Spice tea by Stash hot or iced, and the Island Mango and Peach tea Jennifer mentioned is pretty good too, but I only drink that one iced.
Sorry, no dogs or kids unless you count my cat who loves to play fetch and my husband.

Instant Gratification. I love, love, love those Wilder men!
I will be of no help with the puppy since I have no pets, only kids. Teenage girls are the wrost! Speaking as a former teenage girl, the oldest of 5 kids, 4 of which are girls! My sister and I were just talking last night about how bratty she was in 4th grade!! My mom swears girls are easier than boys, but I am not so sure.

I brew iced tea (good ol’ Lipton) in my Mr. Iced Tea maker, then mix in a container of Crystal Lite Lemonade mix, so it’s half tea, half lemonade. Very refreshing!
The puppy thing, not so much help. House training wasn’t the issue with Tazewell, but she’d chew ANYTHING that was fabric or carpet. Came home one day to see the entire skirt of an upholstered chair ripped off and in her bed for later enjoyment. Sigh.

I trained my dog by putting him on the bed with me, and when he got up and moved around it woke me up and I took him outside. Did the good boy, good boy thing and fell back into bed. Took me about three weeks and we were both real proud.

I don’t have teenagers yet, so no help there from me!
We crate trained our puppy. We also tried putting him the bathtub at night, because he was too little to get out. I don’t think that will help as our dog is full grown now and only 12 pounds!

Instant Gratification. That was one of my favorite parts of the book. I don’t have a puppy or a teenager so I can’t help you there, but starbucks passion tea is good especially when mixed with lemonade for iced tea. I don’t like it hot though. It’s also good with two pumps original syrup and two pumps raspberry, but you can only get it that way at starbucks. I usually go to albertson’s and stock up on starbucks ZEN tea. it’s my favorite green herbal tea. it’s all I drink when I want hot tea. However if I want hot tea with sugar than I stick to Lipton with sugar and milk.

Oh! I know that one! It’s Instant Gratification.
When we were training Gibbs (our psycho puppy) we put a string of bells on the door knob of the back door. Every time he went near it, we’d ring it, give him a treat and stick him outside. He picked it up and started doing it himself. Now when he wants out, he rings the bells.
I love Celestial Seasons Lemon Zinger and they also have a peach flavour. Both are really great hot but they are also good as ice tea.
Good luck with the teenagers. Worked in a highschool for 3 years…and counted to 10 A LOT!

They will both grow up & life will be better, really! That said I have no advice other than read a good book, take a hike, relax in a nice hot bath. A Margarita works way better than tea…at least for awhile!!

Instant Gratification! Loved it! I like plain cold black tea w/lemonade or if it’s hot, the tangerine orange by Celestial Seasonings. I have two kids and have yet to reach the point where I don’t want to strangle them even though one is now 20 and doesn’t even live at home anymore. My dogs were easy to train for some reason. They got certain treats only when they came back in from going potty and if they didn’t go, they didn’t get one. They caught on pretty quick. Watch out for the old “pretend to potty” trick though.

Instant Gratification(my personal fav so far).
As for the puppy(sigh!) I always kept mine in the kitchen unless I was prepared to watch closely and able to drop everything to get them out. They’re worse than toddlers! As for the teens, I keep reminding myself I actually wanted them, I kept pictures of them at their cutest on the fridge to remind myself I didn’t make a mistake(LOL). having them. I used to ground them and realized I was only punishing myself…now I find the nastiest chores possible and make them do them when they piss me off. Needless to say I have a very clean house and garage!!!!

Gotta love the “Instant” books, they make me want to move out to the mountains and become my own Mountain Barbie
Trick to teenagers from my own experience being one, never let them know you know they are wrong, just maneuver them where you want them to go. Also, think of the teenage years as one extended PMS trip

Instant Gratification is the book. My choice of tea is sweet tea since I’m from South Georgia. As for your teen trouble…I have one graduating in May and I have learned to pick and choose which battles I want to fight with her. It hasn’t always been a bed of roses but I sit back now and look at her and realize that I must have done something right because all in all she has been a great kid. Now that story might change when she’s off to college in the fall.

I trained my boy using a crate. Best thing ever. Slept in his crate, be sure the crate isn’t too big or he will pee in the corner. We put a shoe box in with him because it was a big crate to make it smaller. I put his crate in the bedroom with me and when he woke up and whined I got up and took him out, always on a lease or he will think it is play time. Then just kept a schedule the rest of the day. Take him out, as soon as he gets up, after every meal, etc.

As far as the dog training thing goes, I can’t help. I’ve always had cats. And you can’t train them.
As far as the teenager thing goes, my mom locked herself in her closet until she calmed down with me and my brother. I think a nice strip of duct tape would have worked well…Or a nice strong Long Island Iced Tea.
Good luck!

We set a timer that buzzed every half hour to take our puppy outside where he was told to be quick. It took 2 tedious weeks but he will still pee on comand when you say “be quick!!”
I am not much help with aggravating teens. Mine went to Paris for 6 months when she was 18 and returned with 2 full sleeve tattoos, a nose pearcing (through the septum, like a bull. It still turns my stomach) and Fushia pink hair. The pink hair is handy. I never lose her in crowds.

Jaye Patrick says:
Dog training is like teenager training – you have to get them young and use repeat commands and discipline. Non-violent discipline that is.
If you express your displeasure, both can sense it, just like they sense the love. Never excuse bad behaviour.
My dog Saxon, was well behaved for her entire life and knew when she’d done a bad thing with only a look from me. She only tore the sheets off the line once. Once. It took three months of repeat training for a lifetime of companionship. She was seventeen when she died.

Puppies are easier to train than teenagers (have raised four teenage girls and lived to tell about it). The ‘pick your battles’ theory has some merit with teens- puppies, not so much.
