Hump Day

March 17, 2010 | Filed under: Stuff

I was at the lake yesterday at sunset playing with my camera. Because I don’t have a book due or too many teenagers to keep track of or a NEW PUPPY destroying my house.

Except I do.

But the good news, when I’d finished amusing myself, I was no longer feeling like I might wrap my hands around the neck of the next person to look at me cross-eyed.

So what do you do when you’re on the edge looking down? I usually turn to cookies but my sweats are tight. You?

    awesome picture!

  2. Judy F says:

    Great picture.

I take a walk, hug my cat. The best is going to see my great niece. She is 3 and can brighten any day

  3. Stacy ~ says:

    Gorgeous picture!

When that happens, I tend to hide away,be by myself, just be alone somewhere quiet. No phone, no radio or tv, unless I need to laugh then I try to watch something funny. Perhaps a book. But get away from the stress and pressure. Sometimes I just need a nap to catch up on sleep.

  4. Amy M says:

Let me just say that this is the third day that I have gone back to see your new puppy. Every time I read that entry I get tears! And I am not even a dog person or any type animal person for that matter. But that dog just breaks my heart!

Being a stay-at-home, work-from-home mom, and not all of the kids are in school yet, I am on the edge every day! My escapes are grocery shopping, sad but true. Going to the gym (this is something for Lent) or soaking in a nice hot bath.

  5. tennismom mary g says:

I read. I escape into another world for awhile. Sometimes whatever it is works itself out. I guess your brain rests & you can think straighter.

  6. Ashley says:

    Love the pic!
Well, if I’m in my car, I turn up the radio and scream along! If I’m at home I clean like crazy!

  7. Liza says:

Love the picture. I will either take a nap or read a book.

  8. Stephanie P says:

Jump. Haha just kidding. I really like the picture. Nawh, I usually sleep.

  9. Sabrina says:

I find someplace quiet with nobody around and curl up with a book.

  10. D says:

I get the hell out of Dodge. I let every one know I’m going over the edge, get in the car, crank the stereo and turn off my cell phone. I usually end up down by the river and read a book(I always keep one under the front seat.(Since I have a house full of teens, animals and a husband this happens several times a month). If the weather isn’t cooperating I go a couple of towns over to the coffee shop and O.D. on coffee.

  11. Susan says:

I usually grab a book and either jump on the treadmill or soak in a hot tub depending on if I’m anxious or exhausted while “on the edge”.

  12. Carrie says:

Well, I use to go to my friends house in the Sierras and since I am on the edge I think I need a visit. Miss you and hope to share some cookies soon. I will bring the junk food. Hugs

  13. Jill says:

Carrie! I miss you too. But you lie on the junk food, you skinny minnie. Don’t tease me.

  14. Shelly says:

    I go to the barn.

  15. limecello says:

I need that lake. I used to try to read to chill, but I’ve been experiencing a huge reading slump, that’s hit me for pretty much over a year.
I’ve read maybe 1/5 the books I normally do. I’ve tried futzing around on my computer, watching tv… last week I was so bored I even worked out. O_o

  16. Karin says:

Playing around at the lake seems to work for you. I love that picture. I generally hide away with a book or, if there aren’t any people in the living room, I play some of my favorite songs on the piano.

  17. Brandy says:

I channel that anger or whatever into working out, or if I can’t get to the gym-into cleaning. It really helps me calm down. Hope things are better now.

  18. Erin E. says:

I’ve been on the edge way a lot lately. So I’ve been doing a lot of deep breathing, walking/swimming, and drinking a TON of tea.
Sadly, most of it’s not working, so I’m open to suggestions.

  19. trish says:

I have to agree with singing in the car!!!

  20. Donna M says:

Since I live alone I don’t get that way much anymore. Taking a walk always seems to clear my head. Years ago when things got bad a drive to the coast to see the ocean always made me feel better. There is just such awesome power there it never fails to soothe my soul. Even now when I just want to run away for any reason I want to go to the coast. A couple of weeks ago I drove over there to take my walk!!! It was beautiful and I just had to get out of the house. It worked. Of course since it was beautiful, everyone & their dog was there. Really!!
Beautiful picture. Thanks for sharing.

  21. Dee B. says:

I eat black licorice. Beautiful picture but need more of the new puppy, possibly interacting with the other two.

  22. Diana says:

    Naps do the trick sometimes.

  23. Edita says:

I drink red wine. A glass or two usually does the trick :) !
