Why not try one of the titles on the RNA’s romantic novel of the year or Love Story of the year shortlist?
The greatly-prized Romantic Novel of the Year is chosen from a shortlist of six titles which have been selected by the reading public from more than 150 nominated books. The winner is selected by three independent judges. The shortlist, in alphabetical order by author name, is:
Passion – Louise Bagshawe (Headline Review)
Fairytale of New York – Miranda Dickinson (Avon (Harper Collins))
Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts – Lucy Dillon (Hodder & Stoughton)
A Glimpse at Happiness – Jean Fullerton (Orion)
The Glass Painter’s Daughter – Rachel Hore (Pocket (Simon & Schuster))
The Italian Matchmaker – Santa Montefiore (Hodder & Stoughton)
The Love Story of the Year is for a shorter romance where there is a strong emphasis on the developing central relationship. A shortlist of six is again chosen by the reading public, with the winner selected by three judges. The shortlist is:
The Notorious Mr. Hurst – Louise Allen (Harlequin Mills & Boon)
Animal Instincts – Nell Dixon (Little Black Dress)
Always the Bridesmaid – Nina Harrington (Harlequin Mills & Boon)
Fair Deception – Jan Jones (Robert Hale)
The Wedding Party – Sophie King (Hodder)
Claimed for the Italian’s Revenge – Natalie Rivers (Harlequin Mills & Boon)

SMOOTH TALKING STRANGER by Lisa Kleypas blew my mind yesterday.
Also, I totally second Melanie’s suggestion of Robyn Carr. Virgin River FTW!
Then again, you can never go wrong with Nalini Singh or Kresley Cole. Alyssa Day’s ATLANTIS REDEEMED just came out this week but I received -and read- my copy last week.
Lynne Connolly writes awesome Georgian historicals. If you haven’t read the Richard and Rose series starting with YORKSHIRE, you a missing out big time!
I plan on reading some Louisa Edwards and Pamela Clare next… And maybe reread some Lynne Connolly…

Well I just read this book, “Slow Heat” and it was really good. Oh that’s yours, u’ve probably read it. But for real how about; Roberts Bride Quartet series, Robbs “Fantasy in Death” or Laurens Black Cobra series. All a little suspense added to other good stuff. And none of the others look bad either. So much to read so little time.

The book that I just finished reading is called “Are you Afriad?” It is by Carla Cassidy. The book is more like a romantic suspense than a full blown romance.
Here’s what the back of the book says:
At the age of sixteen, jessica Langford endured and escaped the grip of a serial killer who buried his victims alive. After overcoming this terrifying experience, she started her own radio program to help those living in fear. If she could survive her past, why not help others do the same?
But now her past is being resurrected. An anonymous man calls in to her radio show with remarkable knowledge of her traumatic experience- and her worst fears. With help from Detective Jake Merridan-a gorgeous cop on the brink of a burnout himself-Jessie must try to uncover the intentions of this mysterious caller, to find him before he kills again and makes her life worst than anything she’s ever feared.
I typed that myself. Whew. Your should reallycheck this one out.
