My new best friend

November 4, 2009 | Filed under: Stuff

I met her yesterday while sitting lakeside and writing. I also happened to be eating Doritos, ranch-style, and apparently that’s goose crack.

She literally chased me all the way back to my car. And yes, I was screaming, if you must know. I am quite positive I broke the world record for the two hundred dash …

Maybe.

Huh. Well, I broke something anyway, just not sure what. You may now go back to your regularly scheduled programming– But before you do, tell us what you’re reading. I need a new book to read, something good.

You are one with God’s creatures LOL

I JUST finished Ilona Andrew’s On The Edge, and I cannot recommend it enough. Paranormal romance, and so wonderful. I heart Ilona Andrews somethin’ awful right now, and want the whole world to know it *g*

  2. Kris says:

my current read is not all i was hoping so I will not recommend that, but I just finished reading Maya Banks’ Sweet trilogy, Sweet Surrender, Sweet Persuasion and Sweet Seduction, good stuff :)

  3. Pat L. says:

The Christmas Secret by Donna Vanliere; up next – Susan Mallery’s Straight from the Hip.

  4. Laura says:

I’m reading Ladies of the Lake by Haywood Smith.

  5. ArkansasCyndi says:

Just finished Too Good To Be True by Kristan Higgins. Next up – The Last Will of Moria Leahy by Theresa Walsh

  6. Eva / TXBookjunkie says:

I agree with Stacy. Ilona Andrew’s On the Edge was good. I ended up getting her other books (Kate Daniels series). I’m starting book 4 of CL Wilson’s Tairen Soul series. It’s a beautiful fantasy story. Shelly Laurenston’s new book Mane Squeeze was a fun paranormal read. The other books on the series are great too.

  7. Gena says:

I just finished Holding Out For A Hero by HelenKay Dimon. Loved it.

  8. Booklover1335 says:

    Hey Jill,
I just got done reading All Jacked Up by Lorelei James and absolutely loved it. One of my fav reads of the entire year. One of my other favs this year was Deeper by Megan Hart. Can’t go wrong with either of these books. James is a new release as an ebook and can be bought at Books on Board, the Hart book can be found just about anywhere online.

  9. Judy F says:

you do hear the call of the wild…

I am reading Lora Leigh’s Heat Seeker. very hot

  10. Shannon says:

I’m just getting ready to start reading Kindred in Death. It’s the next one in the series by J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts).

  11. Amy M says:

Stupid geese. I don’t like them. They are mean and they scare me. You are a brave woman to feed them, that is for sure!

I am reading Not Without Her Family by Beth Andrews. It is quite good.

    Amy M

  12. Liza says:

So sorry you were chased down by geese for your Doritos. I’m currently reading an ARC for Faerie Fate by Silver James and loving it. If I didn’t have to work and sleep I would have it almost finished. I also am reading Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead and the 3rd book in her Vampire Academy series.

  13. trish says:

I am going through a box of gently read books and just read my first Lori Wilde Addicted to Love.
I laughed out loud in many places. I love that. It was a very satisfying book and her use of popular culture was fun as well. I will watch for her books in the stores now. Nice pic of the goose!

  14. tennismom says:

    Hi Jill.
    You & your Doritos LOL.
Just finished some awesome books but they are all last in a series.
Hot On Her Heels – Susan Mallery
Feel the Heat – Cindy Gerard
    Unleashed- Jami Alden
and found a little treasure which was laugh out loud & sexy called Felicity Stripped Bare by Vanessa Jaye.
Weird thing: unlike movies where sequels are not usually better, with these books the last ones were the best. Writers rule!!

  15. Nicole S says:

Blind-Date Bride by Jillian Hart, I’m enjoying it.

  16. Ashley says:

I stayed up until 2 am finishing All Jacked Up by Lorelei James. I absolutley loved it. It’s #8 in her Rough Riders Series. I recommend reading all 8, they are awesome!
I’m gonna 2nd Felicity Stripped Bare, I read it recently and liked it alot.
Some other recent reads that I enjoyed: Hot As Sin by Bella Andre (2nd in the series), Feels Like The First Time by Tawny Weber, Impetuous by Lori Foster, and Notorious by Vicki Lewis Thompson.

  17. Ashley says:

I meant to add that All Jacked up is not available on Kindle yet, but My Book Store And More has it available in Kindle format for download.

  18. Dee B. says:

Just finished The Lyricist by PF Busch – a new author. It was very entertaining! Look forward to her next book.

  19. Jamie says:

I’m with ArkansasCindi – Too Good to be True by Kristan Higgins was great! I’m picking up Bunco Babes Gone Wild by Maria Geraci next time I’m at the bookstore.

  20. Dru says:

I’m reading “Kindred in Death” by J.D. Robb and I have so many books to choose from that I don’t know what is up next.

  21. Shiloh Walker says:

    Waking Nightmare by Kylie Brant.

Geese can be dangerous. Especially if you have food.

  22. Lynn says:

    Cool pic.

I just started reading Vision in White by Nora Roberts. It’s the first book in the bride quartet series. Very good.

  23. Allie says:

I’m reading Moving Target by Elizabeth Lowell right now, but plan to stop in the middle so I can read the newest by Nalini Singh, Blaze of Memory, the instant the UPS guy delivers it.

  24. Kellen says:

I’m reading the new JD Robb book – “Kindred in Death”. LOVE the series. Also have Lori Foster’s “Bodyguard” waiting in the wings…

  25. Linda says:

Geese are a real problem on the lake shores here in Michigan. What a mess they make. Just finished Catherine Coulter’s “Eleventh Hour”. Now reading Suzanne Brockman “Breaking Point”. Waiting for your next books to hit the shelves.

  26. d says:

I just finished “Heat Seekers” by Lora Leigh. I just started a new Blaze book “”Sealed and Delivered”. Those geese are a pain..I chased several off my property over the weekend, they were stealing my apples and leaving goose poop everywhere

  27. Jillian Beane says:

I just finished Bed of Roses, by Nora Roberts… the 2nd in the Bride Quartet series. I am impatiently waiting for the rest of the series! I now reading Hot on Her Heels the last book in a series by Susan Mallery that begins with Under Her Skin. Another really great series!

  28. shannon says:

I am reading Crescent Moon by Lori Handeland. My husband found the entire Moon series the other day in the book swap at the consulate so I am a happy happy camper. Usually he only finds the middle book of a trilogy but never a whole series.

Geese are scary critters. The only thing scary is swans! OK maybe bears too. You are a brave woman and generous to share your doritos.

  29. jo says:

I’ve got kindred in death and bed of roses coming from nora roberts.. Hope they are here soon, mailman’s getting tired of me.. Rereading bump in the night from j d robb right now while i wait..

  30. Courtney says:

I’m reading Nalini Singh’s Blaze of Memory, the most recent addition to her Psy-Changeling series. This is only the second paranormal series I read (second to JR Ward’s Black Daggar Brotherhood). It’s fantastic. : )

  31. Susan says:

I am currently reading Truly Madly Yours by Rachel Gibson. It’s the only one of hers I hadn’t been able to read yet. I enjoy her books because there is usually good humor as well as steamyness. :)

  32. Patty L. says:

I am currently reading LuAnn McLane’s “He’s No Prince Charming”. So far it’s been laugh out loud and steamy. Love her writing. I also just finished Nora’s “Bed of Roses” it was a great book. I am so happy that she is writing contemporary romance again. Love her. Now if Susan Elizabeth Philips would crank them out faster. LOL

  33. Brandy says:

I am currently reading Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler and next up is Kindred in Death by J.D. Robb.

  34. Wendy says:

I’m currently reading Nora Roberts Irish Born about 3 irish sisters on the second sisters store, really like it.

Those geese can be a real menace! They are so pretty when you see them flying. On the ground going after your Dorito’s, not so much!

Currently I am reading 92 Pacific Boulevard, Debbie Macomber’s latest release in her Cedar Cove series. I am thoroughly enjoying it. Recent reads are More Blazing Bedtime Stories by Jule Leto & Leslie Kelly a fun read & take on fairy tales also Samantha Hunter’s, Caught In The Act. All good reading. Not sure what is up next!

  38. Heather L says:

Cute new friend! I just finished Hemingway’s THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA, and am now starting I SCREAM, YOU SCREAM by Wendy Lyn Watson. After that will be the new Sookie anthology (saving it for the weekend since it’s a hardcover and harder to sneak in at work).

  39. tennismom mary g says:

How can I forget Paradise Rules by Beth Kery. Hot surfer/business man for a hero, lots of heat & I don’t mean the weather.

  40. corinne says:

That happened to me at disney world with a duck and french fries! The dang thing went crazy and nipped at my legs until gave up some fries  In terms of books, I would definently check out Robin Kaye – Romeo Romeo and Too Hot To Handle
Marie Force: Line of Scrimmage and Love at First Flight
and Louisa Edwards – Can’t Stand The Heath

I just discovered these authors and WOW are they amazing!!!! I love contemporary romance and have found that finding a good contemporary is becoming a pain, but these authors write true contemporary’s that make you lauch, cry, and get out of the fan to cool off ;-) I would check these out and pass along, definently keepers.

  41. WendyS says:

We have geese that hang around where I work. We have to walk around them, lest we be attacked! Definitely not friendly creatures!
Just finished Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts – very yummy! Trying to find Zinnia, Amaryllis and Orchid by Jayne Castle (aka Jayne Ann Krentz) in the used book stores. No luck so far.

  42. Chelsea B. says:

I’m reading ‘Kiss of Midnight’ by Lara Adrian. It reminds me of The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward, and just as addicting!

  43. tennismom mary g says:

I agree. Robin Kaye & Marie Force were a wonderful surprise. Another new this year author is Elizabeth Naughton. She literally grabs you from the first page.

  44. Diana says:

I started the first book in the high school Betsy-Tacy books by Maud Hart Lovelace, Heaven to Betsy.

  45. Kate says:

I just got done with Lisa Dale’s new one, It Happened One Night. Before that it was Susan Donovan’s Aint to Proud to Beg. Now on to Kissing Santa Claus.

  46. tennismom mary g says:

    Kate
Did you like It Happened One Night?

  47. Jodie says:

I am in the middle of reading The girl with the dragoon tattoo. Took many breaks to watch the World Series. But now that the Yankees won I can go back to my book :)
