The last of the green

October 2, 2009 | Filed under: Stuff

From two weeks ago when summer was still here and the colors hadn’t started to turn yet.

When I could still go outside in shorts and a tee, sniff sniff.

Unlike today, when I needed sweats, scarf and gloves. But I digress. Back a few weeks ago I could sit on a rock in the sun and work.

When I could lay back and close my eyes and plot.

Hey, someone has to do it.

That sounds wonderful. Nothing like that here.
I know what you mean. One day it was summer the next winter. I had to turn the heat on last night…brrr

  2. Stacy ~ says:

Gorgeous pics, would love to be there. Not looking forward to the cold. It’s gonna be 56 degrees today – brrr!

  3. Shiloh Walker says:

Damn. is that where you live? Come I come live with you?

  4. ArkansasCyndi says:

    beautiful pictures.

Tough job (lying on hot rocks to plot) someone has to do it

  5. tennismom says:

Gorgeous pictures. For me the end of summer is this week, the first time we start playing tennis indoors.
Nice to have no sun in your eyes & no wind but the price for hubby & I to play indoors one night would buy me 2 books.Sigh.

  6. Ashley says:

Love the pictures, wish I was there! It’s gonna be a nice 80 degrees here today. I love summer, but autumn in SC is so nice. It’s winter that I don’t look forward to.

  7. Kaily Hart says:

    Jill,

I pop in here periodically to see what zany thing you have to say or show. I have to say I am always envious when you post pics of your ‘neighborhood’. I can’t relate to the weather thing though. I live in Miami. We have a bit more of summer to get through and winter? Well, not so much winter down this way. We were discussing only yesterday that perhaps we won’t swim in our pool any more this year because the water temp may have dropped below 80 degress. Brrrrr.

  8. D says:

Great pics! It’s sad to see summer go  Our temps are only in the 50′s now, and my summer tan is already starting to fade  I feel the islands calling to me, time to get on line and book my winter get away with hubby.

  9. Nicole S says:

    Wow, that scenery is beautiful!

  10. Donna M says:

Your neighborhood would make any one jealous of where you live! Summer is ending but where I live it isn’t as cool as where you live. Today is suppose to be in the 80′s!! Still seems like summer. The nights are cooler & the days shorter. That is all okay with me. Fall is my favorite time of year.

Thanks for sharing such beautiful scenery with us.

    Enjoy the weekend.

  11. Brandy says:

Whoa, Ashley must live further South in SC than I do, because it’s 69 degrees here right now. I may have to go upstairs and change out of my shorts and polo shirt! *G* I love Fall. *G*

  12. WendyS says:

I’m jealous! ;-) But where are the bears?

  13. Karin says:

Wonderful pictures. Thanks for sharing them.

  14. Ashley says:

Brandy, I’m in Florence. It made it to 78 today but was cloudy. It still felt nice though!!

  15. Eshani says:

Oh man, I have to second Ms. Walker, can I come live with you? ;-) I love to hike, and everytime you post pics of your “backyard”, I’m absolutely envious. But thank you for the pics, as always, there gorgeous!

  16. Dee B says:

This is the most beautiful place. I can picture myself reading one your books on those boulders. I live in Southern Virginia where there are no boulders, beaches but no boulders.

  17. Loretta says:

Makes me want to visit your neck of the woods again.
It’s been way to warm here in So. Cal. mid 90′s is just too hot.

  18. Dee says:

OMG, I want to be there, NOW! Sitting in a rocking chair with a good book. Wow. I am coming to see you next summer when it’s 100 degrees here…
