The only way to start the day

September 17, 2009 | Filed under: Stuff

When Alpha Man dragged our sorry asses out of bed at five in the morning, it was still dark, dammit, and the air was cold.

But then the sun started to come up and the view was breath-taking, and all was forgiven.

Of course I didn’t get in the water. As we dropped Middle and Youngest off at school on the way home from the early morning impromtu wakeboard run, they were shivering but grinning from ear to ear.

Sometimes getting up early is worth it.

Especially for me, since one, I didn’t have to go to school, and two, I got McDonalds on the way home.

Pretty picture but 5 am??? I dunno.

Glad you got some food of the gods. LOL

  2. Stacy ~ says:

I get up at 4:30am, and go to bed around 10:30 or 11:30pm. 5-6 hours of sleep is all I really need, though I loooove to sleep. With the days getting shorter I don’t see pictures like this, but it sure is pretty.

  3. Pat L. says:

Beautiful photos. And wow early wakeboarding – must have been cold. Glad you got fed.

  4. Dru says:

    Beautiful and so serene.

  5. Liza says:

I’m usually up by 4:30am or 5:00am during the week(depends on if I go to the gym). However, since I live in the city, I don’t get to see this amazing view. Thanks for sharing! Glad you got McDonald’s out of the deal…I miss McDonald’s. Haven’t eaten there in over 4 weeks.

  6. Ashley says:

Beautiful pic! Glad you took it, cause I would never be up early enough to see it! My little one has a soccer game this Sat. at 9:15 and I’m complaining about how early that is.

  7. tennismom says:

Now that view could make me a morning person!

  8. sls-rainey says:

I know the early wake up all too well the last couple of weeks. We have been working 10 1/2 to 11 hour days. Today I didn’t have to be in until 8am.
I paniced that I was late when I woke up at 6:30.
The picture is great. I haven’t gotten to be outside much during my favorite time of the year.

  9. trish c says:

Has Alpha Man lost his mind??? That is way too early. That man is crazy! But it is kinda cool at the same time. Great pics!!

  10. Susan says:

Alpha Man has some wonderful ideas for family adventures. He also knows how to keep his wife happy!

  11. Karin says:

Jill, that’s a gorgeous picture. I wouldn’t mind seeing sunrises if they looked like that.

  12. Stephanee says:

Beautiful picture. I’m sure your kids will always remember the crazy and special things their dad did to get everyone to have fun and enjoy life. They probably were invigorated and had the biggest smiles all day long.

  13. Brandy says:

I was awake at 5am this morning, but my view wasn’t as pretty as that. I hope you enjoyed your McD’s!

  14. Donna M says:

Very pretty! Love that picture. Wake boarding before school–what fun for your girls! But sounds a bit Brrrrr…!! Glad you got McD’s to make up for the early awakening. You can always take a nap later, although by now it is almost to late to nap!!
