Dear Summer
August 24, 2009 | Filed under: Stuff
Sure, you were late to show up, but you did eventually make your appearance, and I loved you for it. In fact, I’m having a hard time believing it’s almost over. Thanks for sticking around this weekend, when we finally had Oldest home, and we were all together.
It was the bestest weekend ever.

Of course, Summer, as you know, sometimes togetherness has it’s price. With estrogen in overflow, there was plenty little tiffs. Like when Middle tried to get Youngest to smile.

It didn’t work.
But I appreciated your efforts to keep us warm, Summer. Here Oldest and Alpha Man, two peas in a pod by the way, having a daughter/father moment beneath your lovely rays.

Middle pretending to be sweet.

None of us bought it, of course. And dear Summer, I loved it when you shined so bright as Oldest climbed the boat tower to jump into the water, looking quite adorable if I say so myself.

Good by dear Summer, good bye dear Oldest. Good bye boat hair.

Thanks for seeing the last of your season out with a bang, I’ll remember you fondly throughout all of autumn, and by winter, I’ll be crying for you. Maybe you’ll think of me too, and won’t take as long to show up next year?

Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of me & my sisters. When I was 20 my 18 year old sister died of cancer. My other sisters(twins aged 14)and I vowed that life was too short to sweat the small stuff but we did anyway LOL. Once we grew up & got married we became best friends. The 3 of us had babies at the same time & the 3 boys have grown up like brothers instead of cousins. We all live in the same neigborhood. I know your girls will probably not believe it today but looking at them I know they’ll feel the same way later.

OK that brought tears to my eyes..I’ve been trying to ignore the fact that summers ending, and that my oldest is leaving again for college and that the other 2 are starting back to school. They may drive me a little crazy all summer but I realize I only have 4 more years of this crazy left and then they’ll all be gone to college and their own lives. The pictures are incredible as usual, thanks for sharing.

I feel your pain for oldest. My one and only left for college 2 wks ago, and it hurts alot to be apart from her. Anyway, I’m writing to tell you I just finished reading Storm Watch and absolutely loved it!! I hope that one of your cop stories will include Hunter and Cece’s story!

Great pictures, what a beautiful family! your girls are just terrific – glad you and Alpha Man had a chance to enjoy boating with all of them. Since you are sad that Oldest is going back to college, get a boy puppy – it will fill your days and nights.

Summer never really made it to Wisconsin for more than a day or two at a time. We had one week of 90′s and that was it. July 1st I watched my son play baseball in long pants, a sweatshirt and a blanket!!
For a minute, I was sure I should be watching football!!
It’s going to make winter seem all that much longer now!!
Great pictures by the way. I’m glad you had a great weekend with family!
