Leaving, on a jet plane
July 15, 2009 | Filed under: Stuff
Okay so as you read this, I’m on my way to Washington D.C. Leaving gorgeous sunny 75 degree weather and this:

Heading for hot hot hot and muggy D.C. Nothing personal D.C., I actually love you, I just don’t want to visit you in July. Who’s idea was this anyway?
Oh yeah, it was mine. I’m going the Romance Writer’s of America’s national conference, where I’m up for their Rita award, will get to tape an interview with the head romance buyer for all the Borders Books in all the land, and catch up with my editors, agent, and writer friends.
I hope there’s cookies.
Anyway, stay tuned. I’ll be posting pics tomorrow. For now, here’s the last face that stared glumly at me as I walked out the door.

I’d like to think what’s going through her mind is something like “bye, mama, I love you” but it’s far more likely “I don’t know what I’m going to mess up while you’re gone but it’s going to be epic”

have a safe trip. I hope you have some cookies too.
I am sure Sadie is going to be good. HA

Washington DC is awesome. Have a great time. I guess you haven’t heard the East Coast has been having the coldest summer on record. You don’t have to worry about the humidity.

Marylynn is saying the truth… except for this week. From what I understand, yesterday’s unbearable heat was heat. Today should be the humidity and tomorrow should be heat AND humidity. I seriously melted yesterday. That said, have a blast! It’s also weird to see so many tourists in the heat of the summer. Usually, they’re Spring and Fall. Safe travels!

Hope you have a wonderful trip to DC and find lots of cookies.
I really think Sadie was just letting you know that she was going to eat all the cookies while you are gone.

Have fun! Be sure to get some goodies. I am sure someone will bring you cookies…I would if I was there.
Hope you win. I loved “All He Wants for Christmas”.

good luck on your award. I hope you have a safe trip back east. Sadie is just pissed because you’re abandoning her..she’ll probably find a secluded hard to get to location and pee on it over and over and over the whole time you’re gone.(that’s always what my cat does) Enjoy the heat and humidity of the East coast(lol)

Have smooth flight Jill! And finger crossed for your nomination!! Do you know where Borders will put up your interview? At their facebook page perhaps? I´m sooo looking forward…

May your flight be smooth.
Have a good time at RWA & my fingers are crossed that you win the RITA award. I’m a Border’s Reward member and I’m thinking your interview might be on one of the emails they send me. Let us know what you find out.
Stephanie, have fun at the book signing. Did you go last year when it was in San Francisco? I did, loved it except for the noise!! Anyway enjoy.

Best Wishes for the RITA! Look at it this way, if Sadie makes a mess you won’t be there to have to clean it up! *G*

You were in a hurry to get to your book signing so I didn’t get to say: Was a pleasure to meet you on the flight today. Good luck at the conference and everything else going on.
I again salute you as a good mother! Congrats on sticking to high values in this wishy washy world.

Could you bring some heat and humidity to the East Coast please? We’ve had three days where it has reached 80. That’s just annoying. I want my east coast summer now. Have a good trip. Enjoy the rather cool weather.

We just got back from DC on July 5th (my husband had business there). It rained a few days and was hot a few days, but it wasn’t muggy at all. It was a dry heat and very tolerable.
Have a good time!

I love DC! Though yes, in July, it is pretty miserable. I have fond memories of it though, because we were idiots and walked for miles in the heat. (Yes, one day unknowingly while there was a heat advisory. Our office was horrified when we got back). I hope you’re having a fantastic time at RWA!
