Tuesday Tidbits

You know when you think you’re over something, and you’re doing great, and then you do something like unload the pictures out of your camera and find the last living picture of Mountain Barbie and you realize you’re not doing good at all?

It’s hard to believe from that picture that she’d be gone less than 24 hours later. I’m still reeling.
Alpha Man took one look at me looking at this picture as it came out of my camera and loaded me into the Jimmy. We went to Taco Bell, loaded up a big bag to go, and went to the lake to sit on the dock.

There were sailboats and pretty waters.

There was Taco Bell. I had a seven layer burrito without the onions and sour cream. Alpha Man pointed out that it was really a five layer. We lay back on the deck and watched the sky for awhile. That was nice. It was a good sky.

Ashes had a good time though I think she missed her buddy too.

I almost joined her but then I put my toes in and damn. That snow melt is cold.

But by the time we got home I felt better. Taco Bell and watching the sunset on the Sierras will do that for ya.

Posted on June 30th, 2009 at 3:13 amBloomin animals get under your skin, don’t they?
I still miss my mutated rat on stilts, (seriously that is what she looked like) and it has been ten years.

I remember when my crazy dog Roscoe died when I was 14 (fearless dummy was killed by a bear
) and it still aches when I think of him – it’s been 23 years. But then there are the good memories.

I was having a bad time too this weekend, having to leave the wonderful family in Orlando to head home to Virginia. I battled tears some of the way, so my Alpha Man got off on an exit in North Carolina and loaded my bag with Taco Bell too
Then we just drove and subjected our 3 boys to our cheezy music the rest of the way home.
What views you have!

That’s a beautiful photo of Ashes. You should have it printed out, blown up, and framed. Give yourself time to mourn her passing. Then celebrate her life. I truly believe she is in doggie heaven, with all my animals, and the weather is always great there, and she can swim any time she wants…

((((hugs)))) It just hits you when you least expect it sometimes. Glad you had Alpha Man, Taco Bell, and Ashes to get you through this time. I got all teary-eyed when I saw the picture. Mountain Barbie might not have been her for long, but she left her mark on everyone she met(either in person or on the internet).

I hate that grieving seems to be one step forward & two back.I showed my co-worker the Mountain Barbie blog with the picture of her flying into the water. She has a black lab that goes kayaking with her. All she could say was “what a beautiful happy dog”. I think all of us girls would love to be called that.MB made you happy but you must have made her happy too.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost my cat Tigger a couple of days before you lost Mountain Barbie. It still hurts. Alpha Man’s plan seemed to be a lot better then the one my sister came up with. She gave us a kitten under the guise of a Father’s Day present for my husband. It was most certainly too soon. We were never really given a choice in the matter as sending her back with my sister would have been cruel and unusual punishment in our opinion. We have since fallen in love with our little Eve, but it doesn’t really lessen the pain of losing Tigger.

When my daughters dog passed away it hit us all hard. I took care of him everyday. He was a great companion. I miss him dearly. I still have his ashes.

I know what you mean. Sometimes it just sneaks up on you and takes your breath away. I still miss my old pony. He was a very dear friend to me for a very long time. We still celebrate his birthday, though, and eat orange popsicles in his honor. I taught him to eat them off the stick. He would also eat orange sno cones out of the paper cone…
In happier news, B&N shipped my order today that was supposed to go out on the 7th… that order has Double Play and Instant Gratification in it! I tell you this could not have happened at a better time. It should be here by the end of the week. My dogs and I will spend this Saturday holed up in the house with classical music on and all the windows closed. I’m the only one that does not require sedation on the 4th, so I can read while they sleep through the noise.

Hugs to you. We had a cat go missing, one second he was there, the next somehow out the door and gone. We searched for weeks. That was 3 years ago and I JUST took the last flyer down off of my storm door. It does get better, it just takes time. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Sorry about MB. I know it is hard. Pets are so dear to our hearts. Good news, after much determined searching at Bks a Million this weekend, I found and bought both of your new books!

Oh Jill, Hang in there honey, hopefully someday a picture of her will only make you smile(without tears in your eyes. About 5 years ago hubby was cleaning his study and found a roll of film, he took it in and had it developed at one of those one hour photo things. When he walked in the front door he had tears in his eyes. HE handed me the photos and there was my sweet puppy he bought me on our 2nd wedding anniversary. He had been gone for more than a dozen years and there we both stood hugging an bawling like babies. Damed animals, even when their driving you nuts you can’t help but love the hell out of them. What you need is a half gallon of your favorite ice cream a jar of your favorite topping, a can of whipped cream and Very large spoon!!!

(((((Hugs Jill)))), I’m so sorry to hear that Mountain Barbie is gone. She will be missed, I think, by all of us. That is a wonderful picture of her. Alpha Man had the right idea Taco Bell, the lake, himself a good way to end the day.
First thing today when Border’s opened I was at the door! No Instant Gratification on the shelf or on any new book displays. A kind clerk saw me and asked if he could help, then another man took over helping me. The sad story was that the book was in the store but in the back still in receiving with no way to tell which palette it was on! I was bummed to say the least. Since I’m not sure just when I will be in Santa Rosa again I was very disappointed. Next time I am there it better be on the shelf!!

I finished Instant Gratification last night. Wow. I love how you put things that happened in your life in there.
Can’t wait to get Double Play.
BTW I tend to drop whatever book I’m reading whenever I get a new one of yours.

Oh, Jill. Sometimes junk food and pretty surroundings are necessary to just keep going. I hope they did the trick for you, at least for a short time.
