What’s in your purse?
November 7, 2008 | Filed under: Stuff
The other day I spilled my purse in the grocery store and let me tell you, you just have no idea how embarrassing that is until a perfect stranger crouches down to help you pick up your crap. It’s no secret that I’m an office supply slut. As I now have reason to know in painful detail, I had no less than twelve pens in that purse, and also eight pencils, FOUR adorable little notepads (none written on) and a Hello Kitty eraser.
I also had sticky note thingies (none used), a pocket calendar (not written on but it has a cute picture of a puppy on the front) and an envelope. Empty.
I wish I was kidding. In addition, I had my wallet (pathetically empty except for my abused credit card), my cell phone, my iPod (with only one ear piece, the other has been mysteriously eaten — yes, eaten — I’m looking at you, Mountain Barbie), and about a billion receipts.
Oh, and one empty lipgloss.
Like I said, wish I was kidding.
So here’s today’s question. What’s in your purse?
P.S. Come back tomorrow for a sneak peek at a new cover and an exclusive excerpt and giveaway!

Lordy I have a ton of stuff in my purse. Cell phone, lip gloss (several), aspirin, sinus stuff, wallet, coupons, extra set of keys, note pads, eye glass cleaners, bandaids. pens. etc.

Sigh. Cell phone, several tubes of lipstick, eyeliner, Tylenol, loose change, note pad, pen, camera (you just never know when you might run into a celebrity & it takes better pics than my phone), receipts, wallet, Starbucks giftcards, current book I’m reading…

Make-up bag (containing powder, eye liner, mascara, concealer, and foundation) my ridiculously over sized wallet which has in it every card for every store and about a million photo ideas, my camera, keys, gum, crayons from the kids menu at legal Sea Food, excedrin migraine, a pen, mints, a brush, a pen, lipgloss, a pencil, coupons for 6 Flags Fright Fest, coupons to DSW, a birthday card my ex asked me to hold onto for him, and a bunch of flash cards with Caps players names, numbers, and positions. Wow, I can’t believe all of that fits in my little purse.

That would be photo IDs…not ideas.. its too early

Ha! Too much!
Wallet, a gazillion receipts (why I keep saving them is beyond me. I’m a paper hoarder I think), calendar (no cute puppies though), schedule, the essay I have to revise, ear plugs, the book currently read if it fits, lip gloss (but it recently moved to jacket pocket because of all the racket the receipts made), an old bus ticket, descriptions of the way to the fair I went to two weeks ago, pain killer pills, allergy pills, handkerchief, skin lotion, a lottery ticket, artificial sweeteners (go figure why they are there), bus card, five pens (out of which three actually works), one blue felt tip pen for underlining, several coupons, one more lottery ticket that I haven’t collected the winnings yet (it wasn’t that much), one broken mobile phone charm, four blue murano glass hearts (formerly on the mobile phone charm) and usually some change but I had to use it a couple of days ago.
No wonder it is heavy…
Oh and I do carry a backpack to school. I found four empty soda bottles in it yesterday… *sigh* I carry so much junk around.

I just recently (last month?) bought a new purse and wallet. When I started switching them over the amount of receipts and pay stubs and papers that were important (until they got eaten by my purse) astounded me. So now if it’s in my purse for three days and I’m not using it, I take it out.

There isn’t room here to list everything that’s in my purse! Suffice it to say that more than one of my daughters’ friends have called me Mary Poppins – my purse is more like a satchel and has anything and everything you could possibly need. Sadly, it’s also very heavy and hurts my back to carry it for long periods so I “downsize” into a smaller one that just holds the bare necessities for shopping, antiquing, etc.

Most of the time I don’t carry a purse. I have a wallet with all my cards in it and my checkbook. I just grab those and go!

I have my wallet, keys, cell phone, makeup bag, checkbook, sunglass case, lotion, 3 pens, 2 pencils, mints, tylenol, and my rosary. No matter my purse, I always bring my rosary. I suppose it’s because I feel safer that way.

I hate carrying a purse and try to avoid it if I can. So when I do carry one, it’s small and there’s not a lot of room for too much crap. The one item I *must* have is Chapstick. I’m addicted. Then there’s the wallet, pens, a pencil, check book, lists, receipts, a tiny pad of paper (for when ideas strike), sunglasses, and a lucky stone in the shape of a heart that my youngest gave me.

ID, money card, medical card, cellphone, lip moisturizer, small bottle Aleve, small bottle lotion, some cash, 2 receipts (now in drawer), 1 pen and 1 index card (blank).
I hate having to carry a purse at all, so I have the smallest one possible, and finally got it down to the bare essentials.

My wallet, with no credit cards because I can’t pass a bookstore with out purchasing a new book and I have to behave because Christmas is right around the corner. My make-up bag filled to the zipper with my bare escentuals, Shu emra eyelash curler, lip gloss, lip liner, concealer, mascara (2 different types, yes I have issues, I know this!). Also my hair brush, calander, hand lotion, tons of my favorite gel roller pens, a old Aleve bottle filled with Aleve, Tylenol, Advil – you never know what type of meds you’ll need. LOL My cell phone, gum. Oh and in the little zippered pocket that EVERY purse has – tampons, Imodium, chewable Pepto-Bismal and Gas-X. As I get older I find that all the foods I use to love don’t love me as much and that really sucks!! Oh and my ipod. I’m glad to see many other women also have their purses loaded.

My wallet, Palm Treo cell phone/pda, travel kleenex packet, keys, coupon wallet, feminine products, hair comb, 2 lip glosses, 2 packs of gum, my leatherman (best investment of $70 ever!), a cute notebook I made in a scrapbooking class, and dental floss. Periodically I’ll have sunglasses and a paperback book thrown in, but not today. My two boys dumped it out last night, requiring a rearrangment and trash removal effort from me.

Since I retired I no longer carry a purse, just my fanny pack & depending on where I am going a tote bag! My fanny pack holds my check book (which I use as a wallet, pen, keys, cell phone, another pen!, tiny lotion, lip balm, shopping list from yesterday, old shopping list from ??, change, nail clippers. In my tote bag are my address book/phone list, appointment book calendar, a small zippered pouch (empty), TracPhone instruction book, pocket pack of tissues, a book if I’m leaving the house & anything else I might think I need!!

Right now, I have a little purse. So, I have a little wallet, sunglasses, business card holder, lipstick, mirror, lip balm, photos of the baby, pen, lotion and hand sanitizer and my phone. When I have my bigger purse, my wallet is bigger and I carry a book or two. I downsized earlier in the week for an event.

I’ve actually gotten compliments from security people who have to check bags and events about how organized my purse is.
In the main compartment I have my inhaler, two pens, a nail file in its case, my wallet, and the case for my glasses. In the zip compartment in front of that, I have my grocery store member cards, my picture holder full of pictures of my nieces and nephews, a coin purse for my change, a matchbook, and lipgloss. In the button compartment in the very front is my cell phone and my chapstick.

There isn’t enough room to list it all. I had this one large purse for about 10 years and everyone decided I need a new one so I ended up with two for Christmas and other this spring from my daughter. I partially empty one and start stuffing a new one and the result is I now have 4 purses all with stuff in them!
