Winter Wonderland
September 10, 2008 | Filed under: Stuff
I was going through my pics, you know, making a cursory attempt at organization. You might ask yourself if that’s even possible.
It’s not.
BUT, as it’s been incredibly hot this week, I’ve had lots of fun revisiting winter. Here’s some of my favorites. This one was taken in January in the middle of a wild snowstorm. It’s a direct out of camera shot, no funny stuff. Mountain Barbie is sitting in the middle of the driveway in front of a snow berm about eight feet high, on the snow covered asphalt, thinking hey, where is everyone!

Psst, Mountain Barbie, over here!

When the storm passed, our house was buried. Literally. So was our mailbox:

Here’s the rock I like to sit on in the summer and contemplate my naval:

In the winter, we sometimes snowshoe across Donner Lake. I was with Middle (hi Middle in red!), and constantly saying CAREFUL DON’T FALL IN!

And then I fell in. But that’s another story. Here’s the view once we hiked in:

Oh, and I love this shot.

Right after I took it, those branches unloaded. On me.
But here’s my favorite one from last winter, the one with the rightward lean, the one that makes me giggle and think naughty thoughts, and if you giggle and think naughty thoughts too, then I know we would be great friends:

P.S. I have an interview up here at bookbinge, if you’re interested . . .

I just hope this year we get some snow, although I’m not ready for winter yet.

Oh I love the pictures but as it’s 45 degrees here this morning, I didn’t need to be reminded of what’s coming LOL. The mountains and the lake are so pretty.
Off to Book Binge…

What beautiful pictures. I remember reading the blog entry with that last picture and giggling like an idiot. :wigglebrow: I had read your books before and was looking for what would be coming soon when I found the blog. From there I knew I was hooked on getting a daily dose. Thanks for all the entertainment and laughs!

Gorgeous pics, Jill. I love winter shots. As for the very last one….well…It’s a winter woodie wonderland, for sure. lolz

What beautiful pictures. I’m jealous. Ohio is so boring. We never get scenery like that. But then we don’t get mudslides, wildfires, or hurricanes either. Somedays I guess boring isn’t so bad.

Thanks for the giggle Jill! I still laugh everytime I see that last picture.

It’s absolutely gorgeous up there! Your pictures always make me feel like I’m there. And that last one always makes me grin.

Love the tree stump picture and giggling away here. :rotfl: the one of your house is amazing to me. We get maybe a total of 4 inches of snow all winter and think that’s a lot. Ha.

Okay, so am I the only one wondering what’s going through your head when you contemplate your “naval?” Sorry, Jill, it just made me giggle.

It’s gonna be winter again before you know it! Mountain Barbie really stands out against the snow, doesn’t she?

Winter sounds real good to those of us in Southern CA in 100 degree heat still. Love the pics Jill.

Beautiful pics, Jill, but they serve as a reminder of what’s soon to follow the impending fall!

I love the photos. Did you really fall in?
That last picture always makes me laugh and have naughty thoughts. :wigglebrow:

You really have this fascination with that stump, don’t you. :rotfl:
These are so beautiful. Much lovelier than the winter here.
Okay, on my way over to the interview.

Posted on September 10th, 2008 at 11:37 amJill says:
RaeLeigh, I don’t think of it as unlucky. Actually, I think I’m quite lucky.
But I am very clumsy, lol. VERY.

I must be one of the only ones that likes winter. *G* I wish it snowed more here. I read your interview over at BookBinge. It was good!

Love the pictures. They would have looked better earlier in the week & last week when the temp was over 100 here in Wine Country! Now it is in the 80′s with that lovely bay area morning fog & I am loving it! The last picture makes me laugh!! Yes, I do have naughty thoughts!!
Posted on September 10th, 2008 at 2:47 pmFall is my favorite time of year and it is feeling that way a bit with the cool mornings & cooler days. However we are headed back into the 90′s at the end of the week & over the weekend. That is the weather for you!
Did I mention we have had a couple of earthquakes here. They have been centered right here. Just in case we have forgotten that not only is this Wine Country, we have earthquakes. The biggest one was 3.0 but I sure felt it!!

Yep, I admit I giggle every time you put that picture up. And then I giggle because I know you’re giggling.
But the snowy pictures? You do realize in a short time you’ll be wishing for the warmth of the summer back, right?
Posted on September 10th, 2008 at 3:32 pmKarin says:
Snow pictures are usually my favorites. Those are fantastic, Jill. Of course I snickered and giggled about the last one.

Great pictures, but with the temperature this morning and the frost – I shudder at the coming season. It always seems to go on forever, and our summer has not been that great. I still giggle over the last picture.

I love the pictures! The last one is too funny.

Loved the pics – including repeats
. It’s getting colder here, however, and I’m hoping winter stays far far away.
