Western Sunset

August 16, 2008 | Filed under: Stuff

(Psst: to see contest winners from earlier in the week, go click here )

Donner Lake, sunset last night. We stayed out there very late, until everyone’s muscles were mush from boarding and then came home and watched Olympics. Which are killing me, by the way, I can’t stay up until one in the morning every night and function, but I can’t stop watching.

I need a nap. You?

PS I know I didn’t name a winner from the contest earlier in the week, I will do that by tomorrow, I promise! So stay tuned . . .

I know what you mean about the Olympics. It seems like the best stuff is always on after midnight!

Every night I stay up watching until I realize I have to give up & go to bed! I’m trying to make sure I get to see all of Michael Phelps & Dora Torres. So far I think I missed one of his qualifying swims! Since I am in the middle of trying to move I don’t really need this distraction!!
Move is a four letter word especially when I am a pack rat moving into a much smaller place!!!
    Love the sunset picture.
    Enjoy the weekend.

  3. Judy F says:

I have been staying up later for me too. I try to last but I start to fade after 11. These things need to start earlier for me. LOL But I am loving it.

  4. Susan Mallery says:

I love the Olympics. I confess I’m more into swimming and gymnastics than track and field, so next week will be a little easier. Although I’ll have to chase down all the horse events, which are usually on some weird channel at a time like 3:00 am

  5. SALLYE CARBERRY says:

    HI,
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE OLYMPICS, ALTHOUGH I AM HAVING A PROBLEM STAYING UP LATE ALSO. MY FAVS ARE THE GYMNASTICS AND SWIMMING. I MUST ADMIT THAT THE WINTER OLYMPICS ARE MY FAVORITS BETWEEN THE TWO, BUT I CAN’T MISS WATCHING THESE EITHER LOL.

  6. Liza says:

I am loving the Olympics, but need some sleep. Luckily, I get to nap as much as I want to right now. I had out-patient foot surgery on Wednesday, so napping is really not a problem for me right now. I’m moving around really well already, but must rest after any outing.

Michael Phelps is in league of his own. Even if he doesn’t win the 8th gold in this olympics, I still think he is the best in the world!

  7. Cryna says:

Love the picture of the sunset. Am not watching the Olympics, but sure do hope that Micael Phelps gets the 8th gold medal………… :bananadance:

  8. jeanne says:

I too love the olympics - mostly all of it anyway lol. I always need a nap. I’ll stay up til 3 AM and that’s fine except when people insist on calling me early in the morning :fryingpan:

  9. Brandy says:

What a gorgouse view and picture! I’m trying to watch some of the Olympics. My hearts just not in it, though.

  10. limecello says:

Gorgeous. Could you use a live in cookie-maker? Because I’d be happy to volunteer :P
Also - yes- the Olympics. I had to get up ridiculously early today (it was still dark!) - and I was so glad they stopped broadcasting at midnight, not like 2 am. Eesh - I have to stay up and find out everything that happens!

  11. Amy A says:

    Gorgeous sunset. Color me envious.

DVRs rock for the Olympics. I watch until about 10:30, go to bed, then get up and watch the rest in the morning….and I can Fast Forward all the boring bits.

  12. Suzanne says:

    I haven’t watched a teensy second of the Olympics….

  13. S William Shaw says:

    Hi Jill,

How’s life treating you? Just checking in to read your blog and say hi.

  14. Donna M says:

Good morning! The Olympics keep me up to late! Michael Phelps & Dora Torres, they rock. Last night they were broadcasting the women’s marathon, boring, sorry ladies, so I switched over to the 49′er game & one of the idiot announcers said Michael Phelps had won his 8th Gold. Now maybe I misunderstood because I thought it was a live broadcast last night but I was not happy when I heard that!! I stayed up to watch anyway but couldn’t make it to see him actually get that 8th medal in the ceremony. The man is amazing! How do those suits they wear manage to stay up?!! That is a whole lot of lean man that gets displayed!!!

  15. Susan says:

    This is exhausting!

  16. Ashley Ladd says:

    Beautiful.

Sounds like you had an awesome day.

  17. Diana says:

Congratulations to Michael Phelps. What an achievement! Jill, I know what you mean about hearting Michael. I was quite obsessed with him four years ago. :)
