The Joys of Teenagers

July 18, 2008 | Filed under: Stuff

Yesterday Alpha Man and Oldest headed off to go shopping for the things she’s going to need to move into her dorm at UCLA. About two hours later I get this text from her:

We’re buying a boat. I told Dad no, I need to go to UCLA, but he says Sierra College (the local junior college) is where it’s at.

I typed Alpha Man:

A boat is fine, just make sure it comes with a cute cabana boy.

They’re still not back, so I’m not sure what he decided . . .

  1. Stacy ~ says:

Oh yeah, a cabana boy is a really good investment. You could have years and years of stress relief with a cabana boy. I’m sure they are really handy for killing spiders. Smart idea Jill ;)

  2. Judy F says:

I like that idea too. Can he get a two for one special?

Great on line read. sorry its over. sniff

  3. Liza says:

I think it is only fair that if Alpha Man gets a boat that you get a cute cabana boy.

  4. Ashley says:

I’m all about the cute cabana boys…sign me up for one too!!!

  5. Laurie says:

Sounds like a good deal to me - keep a daughter at home and gain a cabana boy? Oh yeah.

We’re shopping for dorm stuff this weekend.

I’m the columnist at Romancing the Blog today, should anyone care to stop by! http://www.romancingtheblog.com/blog/

    Have a terrific weekend!

  6. Ang says:

Wow..that must be some boat if it comes with a Cabana Boy.. :rotfl: just think of all the stories you could come up with having that for your muse.

I finished “The Trouble with Paradise” last night (actually 3 am..thanks for keeping me up past my bedtime with that one)..I’m not sure about boats right now.

So sad that the online read is over… but at least it gave me a “warm fuzzy” for the rest of the day. Here is hoping that everyone has a great weekend!

  7. Jill says:

Ack, I forgot to mention the online read, which is here:

  8. Emma Stuck says:

Flash Storm is a great on line read. Have a great weekend everyone.

  9. Amy says:

Oh, I’d love a boat with a cabana boy. Or a cabana boy with a boat. Whatever.

    But college is good, too.

So, did he bring home a boat or dorm stuff?

  10. Karin says:

    :rotfl:

Your story makes me think of that Progressive commercial where the man and his wife are in the checkout and he’s got insurance for a boat and a whole bunch of other stuff she didn’t know they had. I wonder if she would’ve been more accepting had the boat he mentioned come with a cabana boy.

  11. sarah says:

Hey Jill - just finished Flashstorm online! Fun story!

If that whole cabana boy thing works, I’m taking my dh boat shopping… ;)

  12. Dee B. says:

Can’t wait to see if you will be the proud owner of a boat. It reminds of the time that my husband gave me a family membership at a private Golf Club for Christmas (I don’t play golf, but he does). I just finished Flashpoint and it was great, of course. Thank you for dedicating it the readers of your daily blog!

  13. Donna M says:

Boat or college? Doesn’t she have a scholarship to UCLA? I’m going to go read the final chapter in the online read & come back!!

Have a good weekend everyone. Enjoy.

  14. Brandy says:

I’d think your Alpha man is pretty tricky! He gets a boat AND to keep the Oldest home. *G*

    Have a great weekend!

  15. Cryna says:

Loved your online story - just sorry to see it end, I think for the short format you had to work with you did a great job.

Love the idea of the cabana boy - will be interesting to see if Alpha Man arrives home with the boat.

    Have a great weekend.

  16. Mental P Mama says:

I’ll just have a cabana boy. kthx.

  17. Suzanne says:

I would be totally all about the boat and going to local junior college instead of UCLA, LOL. And a cabana boy is good, too! It’s ALL good!!!
