Cars (and oh, a Jeep is NOT a car) are the least of your worries. It is incredibly dangerous to walk in the mountains, in areas of bear, mountain lion, coyote - and even with a dog... Talk to your local Fish and Wildlife, or hiking orgs...I know this was meant to be a light and funny, but it has been worrying at me all day. I walk in grizzly and mountain lion habitat - I have educated myself on how to do that to be as safe as possible and still enjoy this wondrous place. And a dog or dogs are not adequate warning or protection...exactly who runs faster, you or they... I did get one to order it today. GRRR. Plus, I fell on the stairs. I would say down the stairs, but I had a death grip on the railing. So, I pulled something and now I'm all ouchy and, clearly, whiny. So, I had to buy an outrageously overpriced cupcake at this specialty bakery that just opened in Virginia (the landmark bakery is in D.C.) Chocolate and peanut butter always heals what hurts. It's no cookie, but a cookie wouldn't do it for me. As for bears, pigs, and drivers (oh, my!), that's why I don't walk or exercise.
