If You Give A Kid A Kitten . . .
May 25, 2008 | Filed under: Stuff
I was going through some photos the other day and found this one from several years back. And if this pic doesn’t melt your heart upon impact, I have no idea what you’re made of.

I didn’t want to get a kitten but poor Sadie had been found at two days old and was starving and neglected, and Oldest was volunteering at the Humane Society, and naturally, one thing led to another. Of course the kids promised they’d take care of the kitten. They’d feed her and change her kitty litter and EVERYTHING. I wouldn’t have to lift a finger.
Somehow though, it never works out the way it’s promised. I do most of the feeding and changing of the delightful smelling kitty litter (except not) and that kitten I didn’t want is completely mine; heart and soul.
I’m such a sucker.

Too, too cute – she was so teeny tiny! I have been a sucker for anything kitty-related since I was a little girl and found my first kitten. My family now calls me “The Cat Whisperer” as my friend and I have rescued/neutered/found homes for ten stray kittens over the past couple of years. Trust me, we don’t go looking for them, they just find us.
Have a great day! Hot (90s) and humid in Ohio today.

Since I prefer most four-legged animals to most humans, I wouldn’t have been able to resist her, either!
I currently have 3 cats who share my home, and would have more if I had the space, etc.

They creep into your heart on little cat feet. Yep, like Kim, if I had more space I’d have more than the 3 I have now.

I love cats, but my allergies would never allow me to own one(even with shots and meds). Very sweet picture.

She has her sweet moments.
And she has moments where she’s more like a wild, feral tiger.

ah how cute. I have been having to comfort a scared cat this week. We have had some terrible storms and he doesn’t like them. Esp when those sirens go off

We’re in an apartment that doesn’t allow cats, but I do want one. I never wanted a kitten, but Sadie is too cute. I can see how you couldn’t resist her. The husband wants a kitten. I think they’re very high strung and crazy, but they are cute.

I currently have 6 so that tells you about me lol. I had 7 but one passed. I also take care of outside ferals/strays. I’ve had 3 permanent females 12 years. I’ve learned to have the outside females captured and fixed after one summer of having 11 kittens – one female had two litters. I would love to volunteer at a shelter but I know I wouldn’t be able to control myself lol.

I used to have a kitty would would actually climb under the covers and snuggle. Of course, I haven’t been able to have one for a while because of allergies and I’m not sure I would want another one after her. But, that picture does melt the heart.

A Kodak moment! Great picture.
Posted on June 5th, 2008 at 11:18 amWe never had a litter box for our cat. She always did her business outside. It amazed me when we were gone for a day there were never any accidents for which I was very grateful. One day I came home to find her coming out of the fireplace! Oh no, guess what, yep her own personal litter box when there had been no fire for awhile!!!
Jill says:
Donna, lol! I had a fire in the wood stove just the other night, Sadie would have been one hot kitty!

We have 7 indoor kitties because I have a soft heart. A couple of those are rescue kitties. We also feed at least 3 outside, one of whom has adopted us. *G* Sadie sure has grown, but it still a cutie!

That is an adorable picture! It sounds to me that your girls make promises to you like you make to Alpha Man.

What a cute picture. And why is it that the kids all seem to say the same thing when they want an animal, and yet it is ourselves that end up doing all the caring, cleaning and feeding. But as you say the rewards are huge, she is a real sweetheart.
