Here in the Sierras, the bugs have arrived! But that’s okay because it means SPRING IS HERE, SPRING IS HERE!
Sorry. I can’t say that enough.
We have humping ladybugs . . .
We have courting tree frogs . . .

We have frisky kittens and puppies . . .

Oh and just now there were two squirrels totally doing it on our deck, teaching Youngest all about the birds and the bees and prompting her to ask “how is THAT supposed to be fun?”
Thank you horny squirrels, thank you very much!

Melanie says:
Wow, that’s quite a crash course on the birds and the bees! And I still haven’t stopped giggling.
At least when she asks you more about your writing, you can say, “Well, do you remember those squirrels?”

Speaking as the proud foster mama to about 36 tadpoles [which my adopted son calls "toddlers"] I applaud your decision to feature wildlife here! LOL I know you’re glad to see spring, finally.

ROTFL, Jill!

Yes, thank you, I needed that laugh, it reminds me so much of the squirrels at my house, we have thousands, and they are hilarious to watch because the most of them act like addicts and are suicidal!
Posted on May 7th, 2008 at 7:29 amAnd really, what’s funnier than squirrels on crack … Squirrels on crack totally doing it on your deck??? While Youngest asks questions you don’t want to answer!!
I sooo would have loved to hear you give an answer as to how THAT would be fun!!!!

Don’t fool with Mother Nature!

I’ll take your humping bugs/animals at any time. I woke up this morning to an apartment full of ants. Yes, ants. I hate Spring.

I’m so glad to hear that Spring has finally decided to arrive in your corner of the world!
Mating creatures and all!!
Youngest’s question made me laugh!! My reaction to finding out about sex & then relating it to your parents! Ick!!!

There’s two jaybirds going at it right in front of the glass slider on the deck. Thankfully Youngest is at school because if she thought squirrel love was icky, she really wouldn’t be digging my view right now . . .

Two weeks ago the rabbits were doing the same thing - and boy did we get an education. Who needs to see that!? I felt so bad for the girl rabbit. It was over in seconds and then the next boy rabbit was on her. Mother Nature can be cruel. Of course my husband thought it was hysterical. Men. Ugh.

Whoa! Who exactly is getting an education again? Too funny!

One never knows just where they’ll get all their sexshul education!

LOL - and ew, those are not lady bugs. They’re those… ladybug lookalike things. But I’m an equal opportunity bug hater.
maybe it’s good in that it’ll make her think twice in the future?
Posted on May 7th, 2008 at 1:12 pmAnd for the in your face sex ed…
You really are surrounded …
Cryna says:
That was such a good chuckle, and I could just see you trying to explain it……So glad that you are finally getting Spring. Horny animals and all.

Dang! Look at kitty work that ear! What a good dog!
Posted on May 7th, 2008 at 2:50 pmI actually witnessed (to my eternal horror)two squirrels attempt ‘it’ on the electrical wire running from our house to the post outside. They slipped an fell mid hump! I tell ya, I’m emotionally scarred for life!
Jill says:
I know, that poor puppy ear, right? Sigh. Sadie plays so rough with poor Izzy, and Izzy never plays rough back. That puppy is the sweetest thing! Can’t quite say the same about Sadie.

My friend Rou was taking a group on safari in South Africa, and he said it was so embarrassing, they named it the “Safari of Love.” In the Cape, the baboons and whales were humping; in the Namib, the lions were humping, the elephants were humping, even the stupid buffalo were humping. He said everyone started swapping sleeping bags…now THERE’S a romance novel idea!

My cousin’s son heard the cat squalling under the porch and went to take a look. When he asked his mom what the boy cat was doing to the girl cat, my cousin took this opportunity to remind him about the “birds and the bees’ and that the cats were making baby cats just like mommies and daddies make babies. Her son looked back under the porch for a few minutes then asked, “Does Daddy bite you on the ear like that?”
That young man is now grown and has recently married. Wonder how that’s working out for him?
