Right about now, my fantasy get away would be a warm South Pacific island, lots of sun and sand and NO SNOW. It would not have any kids, bills or deadlines. It would have a stack of fun books to read and maybe a cute cabana boy to feed me cookies.
Instead, I’m buried under by all that stuff; the snow, homework (hey, I already did 8th grade, i shouldn’t have to do it again), bills, deadlines . . . In desperate need of an attitude adjustment day, I took my laptop for a short hike and sat by Donner Lake to work for awhile.

Yeah, it’s frozen solid and quite cold, but talk about inspiring. The view took my bad mood away in seconds. So did the goodies I’d packed to go with . . . So I guess it’s all about making due with whatcha got, which in my case, isn’t that bad after all.
So what about you. What’s your fantasy getaway?

I know no one is gonna believe this, but I have no desire to be anywhere warm for my fantasy. Give me an Alaskan cruise, or a great weekend somewhere in Colorado where I can find plenty of snow. I was born in August, but for some strange reason, I looooove the cold weather!
GREAT picture!

I be happy with a week off from work being lazy in bed. Though someplace warm does sound mighty nice. Plus the place would have to have no worries.

Well, considering we’re supposed to get snow and freezing rain today, I think I want the vacation Carly Phillips just got back from – Aruba! I could handle that for about 2 weeks, no prob.

That view would take my bad mood away in seconds too. Stunning.
Fantasy get-away? Just having bare ground and mild temps would be enough. We are bracing for another snowstorm tomorrow, and I’d throw myself out my office window, except the snow banks would defeat the purpose. :hissyfit:

Actually, I wouldn’t mind the snow [nice change from Atlanta] for a few days with no kids, no dog, no phone, etc. Just me and a stack of good books and lots of chocolate…

The beach sounds really good right now. They are actually calling for some snow here tomorrow, so I would love to be at the beach.

My fantasy getaway right now would be a trip back to SC from MD to sign papers selling my house there. That is my current dream.
Posted on February 25th, 2008 at 7:14 amMy kids would love to go anywhere that involved warmth and swimming. I could enjoy that too!
I just looked at Saturday’s blog to see if your girls won state. I’m so sorry they lost, but congratulations on being number 2. That is great and a memory they will never forget. My husband still talks of his football championship from over 15 years ago and the memories and feelings of joy that accompanied that time. Tell them congrats from all of your loyal readers. I know how proud you must be. Tell Alpha Male congratulations too as the assistant coach.

Hot sun, warm sand, a cold margarita, a cabana boy, no kids and a hubbie is there for my enjoyment only, not bugging me about reading to much, or to get dinner, or clean clothes. LOL Thanks for the dream of a better place, I’m sitting at work freezing right now.

Sorry I put Kerry M above, but should have put Amy M. Kerry’s my husband. Is it only Monday at 8am? I’ve got a long day ahead.

Hmmm….a small villa in Tuscany. No kids. No laundry. No work. No thinking about previously mentioned things allowed. Lotsa wine flowing, good yummy food….sunshine on my face. Meandering in shops and bakeries, and cheese shops…sleeping in…*sigh* A nice golden italian man waiting on me hand and foot…some nice eye candy…..deciding whether I would enjoy it more with a group of girlfriends, or my husband. Right now I am mad at him, so friends win!

What a gorgeous spot! I can see why your mood lifted.
The South Pacific sounds wonderful, the Caribbean would also work for me. . . hmmm. . . Miami/Ft Lauderdale is a blast. . .Southern California is nice this time of year. . . As a matter of fact I know a really nice spot in Mexico on the ocean. . . On the other hand, I haven’t been to Hawaii yet. . .

A beach in Hawaii with a cocktail in one hand, a book in the other, and my hubby next to me. No kids, no cell phone, no laptop. Ten days would be good, but I’d settle for a week. Temperatures in the 80′s, a nice breeze, glorious sunsets and surfing lessons.

An oceanside suite on Jekyll Island. A week would work for me. No cooking, housework or bill paying. Just me, good books, good restaurants and the ocean. That is my idea of heaven on earth. Have a great day and hugs to all.

My fantasy get away would be the same as yours. Sun, sand and surf. No kids, no bills, no real life. Just a drink in my hand, my husband by my side, watching a Maui sunset.
Aw yeah! LOL

Awwww, Ames beat me to it. Yep, 80 here today. But I would much rather be in cooler temps.
Dream? A thatched cottage in the countryside of Ireland, Hugh Jackman feeding me chocolate kisses, time to read. No bill collectors calling, no packing, just me and Hugh and chocolate and books …

I’d love to spend a week at La Push, walking on the beach & hiking with my dogs during the day, and then reading by the fire in the evenings. And then I’d get to sleep soundly all night with no husband snoring!

A beach with no distractions and a good book in my hand. Who could want anything more? Okay, if you add in a hot lifeguard or other sexy man, I could go for that too.

I changed my mind, I want to go with Andi to Tuscany. Sounds wonderful and Italy is my dream vacation. I just have to convince hubbie.

My dream vacation would be heading back to where we spent our honeymoon–a little condo in Estes Park. We drove and hiked around in Rocky Mtn. National Park and it was sunny and in the 70s/80s everyday:) Cozy, romantic dinners. . .rare filet, rich chocolate for dessert, yummy wine!
And, I’d have to say, my psychotic, lying SIL would be miles and miles and miles away. (Sorry, I had to spend two hours in her company yesterday and I’m still trying to distance myself from the lie parade she rolled out.) Toxic!

Quick getaway would be our lake cabin during the week – hardly any other boats out on the water and just enjoying the boat ride. Longer getaway would definitely be the beach – with an umbrella drink and good book.

Jill, I live in a very scenic area, too, so I know how much it can help to get out into the wilds to work. In the winter when it’s too cold to just sit outside, I drive up to one of the scenic overlooks near my house, point my windshield toward the sun, and sit in my car. I have a great view, a comfy office, and plenty of warmth. Oh, and snacks. Must have those snacks with me. And the iPod. can’t do without that…

Fantasy get away. Hawaii would be great, I want to check out a volcano, sit on the beach & read, tour the Arizona Memorial, hang out on the beach & just enjoy with no obligations, nothing that has/should be done, with lots of good books to read & unlimited vacation funds! To much to ask for??
Posted on February 25th, 2008 at 12:15 pmI looked in the sports section of our paper yesterday to see if there was anything about your team & the tournament but there were only the local schools! I’m guessing from other comments your girls ended up being #2. Even though that means a loss, they should be so proud to have gotten so far. Hope they are not to disappointed.
Donna M says:
P.S. I just checked your update message. What team took #1 place? Is oldest not going to play basketball in college?
Posted on February 25th, 2008 at 12:20 pmI still say they should be proud to have come in #2 in the whole state! Yea to the Truckee Team & the Shalvis girls! :bananadance:

Oddly enough, I would not pick Hawaii. Hubby lived there for three years as a teenager, and I have strong objections to cockroaches that fly.
I rather like your morning getaway, Jill. Mountains, snow, and unbelievable scenery. I have mountains here where I live, in south central PA, but we’re woefully short on snow. Guess I never grew out of loving the snow after growing up in upstate NY….

Some place warm sounds heavenly. Like you, I’m sick of the snow. We may not have had quite as much as you, but at 86 inches and counting (another 4-8″ tonight), we’re nearly triple our seasonal average. Triple! Even 60 degrees would be nice right now…
Posted on February 25th, 2008 at 3:18 pmBailey Stewart says:
Oh wait! A cold front has come through. We’re down to 80 degrees. *whistling as she walks away*

Ohhhhhhh, and for all the ones on here that are in the double diget warmth of 80 or more – all I can say is
since our temperature today got to a whooping 2C (35F). :rotfl:

My fantasy is a beach somewhere (maybe Mexico) with my children and my husband. It is a calm, white beach and it is warm and perfect outside. I am really thin and I look amazing in my swimsuit (YOU SAID FANTASY!!). My kids and I are playing in the sand and having so much fun.
Posted on February 25th, 2008 at 9:32 pmAt night, my husband and I get to go out and partay! We must have brought our non-existent babysitter.
We spend a whole week simply playing and resting and enjoying one another. Ahhh.

I’m not sure I’d say it’s a fantasy getaway, but I’ve always wanted to see the Matterhorn in Switzerland. I’ve seen the one at Disneyland, but that doesn’t count. I’ve even made it to Switzerland, but I was the only one in the family who wanted to go and we had limited time. Some day I’ll get there. I’ve learned from my parents (who have been back to Switzerland a few times but never managed to see the peak of the Matterhorn) that the Matterhorn is best seen in Spring or Summer since in winter it is often too cloudy to see the top!
