Sometimes I look at my life and wonder how I got here. I mean, I used to be a big city girl, who put on fashionable clothes every day and got stuck in traffic on the way to work.
Now I write novels from home in my bunny slippers, surrounded by the Sierra mountains, not a traffic jam in sight.
In Los Angeles, I had someone who came in every few weeks to clean for me. Here? That honor is all mine. And once in awhile, things fall through the cracks. Last night I left the dishwasher open to run answer the phone and when I came back, I found this:

I said “Izzy Shalvis, what are you doing?”
And she said “um . . . nothing? Just sitting here. See? Not doing anything at all . . .”

Yep, life out here is just like being in the fast lane on the 405. Except not.

Just like a kid, caught red-handed and still in denial. But oh what a face!

It’s better than life on the 405!

Good morning!
I always enjoying reading your blog and see what antics the Shalvis family both human and non, are up to.
Gail Barrett is commenting about blogs on Access Romance. I gave yours a plug. Deservedly so. :rotfl:

But I bet you’d prefer to live by the Sierra Mountains with your family than a polluted, packed LA, right?
Izzy is SO adorable!

I’d take living where you are any day over living in a big city. So many people and so much concrete kill my soul.
As for Izzy, anyone can see she’s just helping “mummy” out with the dishes. What a good girl!

Doggie Scrub Cycle. Gotta love it! Why don’t you strap some dust mitts to her feet?

Too cute! I once left the dishwasher open, half loaded, to get clothes out of the dryer. Came back to find both cats IN the dishwasher, licking plates and silverware. I got that same innocent look – I think they might have even batted their eyelashes.

Awwww… she was just helping! I love that face though. My girls scamper away and then turn to face you once they have distance. Yeah, because I’ve been them so often!
I love your remoteness. The pictures are beautiful. And isn’t it great that you can’t see your neighbors?

I’ve *beat* them so often… Geez!

What’s the issue? When I was growing up we always had big dogs, and as soon as you finished eating you just automatically put the plate on the floor so the dog could lick it. Ditto for food containers, pots and pans. Cleanup was a breeze – just throw ‘em in the dishwasher! The boiling hot, soapy water kills the doggy germs.
I’ve never understood people who washed dishes before putting them in the dishwasher – unless doggy tongues count as “washing” LOL.

I’m with the majority here – she was just trying to help mommy.
I’d trade ya city for mountains. Shoot, I’d trade for your old life. Someone to come in and clean every few weeks? Heaven.

Izzy is so cute and just trying to be helpful. She does have that look of “I didn’t do it, really”.

Have I told you that we call her “Mountain Barbie” because she’s so pretty, and so . . . well, not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed?

Ya know, our dog does the same thing and after reading your post I’ve gotten to thinking… I really am looking at it all wrong… look at how clean that plate is! I should just let Kia(our dog) clean the dishes all the time.

LOL at Mountain Barbie! Her face is too precious. And there’s no such thing as a “fast” lane on the 405 anymore. Actually, I take that back. The lane to get off the freeway can move pretty fast.

Awwww, she’s just helping with the dishes! I SO hear you in the ‘not bright’ comment. A couple of our cats are the same way. *g*

Posted on February 21st, 2008 at 1:07 pmLife in the snowy mountains of the Sierra’s has to be 100% better than living in the concrete, smoggy jungle of the LA area. I love visiting a city, but do not want to live there! I’m hoping to see you in the city, San Francisco, in July!
We are getting rain & I suppose you have more snow coming or already there! Can’t complain here as we had a week or more of lovely springlike weather.

I know I’m just repeating what others have said, but that dog has gotten HUGE. It may have been the dishwasher today but tomorrow she’ll be eating right off the counter! Good grief and good luck.

Three Waters was the dog’s name.

I am so out of step with the rest of the world. :wall: I have no pets, I never lived in a big city, I hardly ever get snow and I didn’t watch Las Vegas.(sigh) I live in a small town and am not able to give a pet the care and attention they deserve. Thank you Lord for not much snow and my TV tastes run more with CSI, Criminal Minds, Jerico and Law and Order SVU. Also the Food Network. I am glad we are all so different. It would be boring if we all liked the same things wouldn’t it? Hugs to all.
