I get tagged for a lot of meme’s and I’ve never done one. Call it laziness on my part. But this one by The Ancient One amused me, so here we are.
The directions were:
1. Pick up the nearest book.
2. Open it at page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence/ phrase.
4. Blog the next four sentences/ phrases together with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig your shelves for that very special or intellectual book.
6. Pass it forward to six friends
I’m going to skip number six because I don’t feel like making anyone do any work. But oddly enough, the book by my bed was my own GET A CLUE, because I was getting ready to send it to a friend. Anyway, here we go, page 123, fifth sentence, plus the next few phrases. Oh, and I should tell you, at this point, the heroine has been dumped at the alter and gone on her honeymoon alone, only to discover the honeymoon house is already being used by another. A man. A tall, dark and rather irritating man.
Excerpt:
Cooper looked at her from the bluest, most sexiest eyes she’d ever seen. “Dante said you were around, talking to yourself about mysterious hotties. You did mean me, right?”
She rolled her eyes, but his had locked on her body. “Wow,” he said huskily. “More honeymoon attire?”
“No. I burrowed some clothes.”
“Hmmm.” Wearing worn cargo jeans and a long-sleeved Henley the exact color of his eyes, he picked up the book she’d sent flying and looked at the cover – a nearly naked man, pulling a dress off a nearly naked woman. “Oh, goodie,” he said. “A bedtime story. You can read it out loud to me tonight.”
“We are not sharing a bed tonight.”
“Feel free to skip straight to the good spots.” He opened the book to somewhere in the middle. “Right here, for example.” He cleared her throat and read out loud: “’Elizabeth tingled at the thought of putting her mouth to his throbbing manhood’.” He lifted his head, sending her a lopsided grin. “Hey, I have a throbbing manhood.”
Breanne crossed her arms over her chest, refusing to admit she felt his smile from her roots to her toes, and in every single erogenous zone between, of which she apparently had more than she remembered, damn him. “Get out.”
“Sorry, Princess, there’s nowhere to go. Come eat breakfast with me.”
“Why? So you can turn that into something dirty as well?”
His grin went positively wicked. “You think sex is dirty?”
“Go. Away.”
Of course he didn’t budge.
“You know what?” she asked, tossing up her hands. “Never mind. I’ll go.”
“You can run, but you can’t hide.”
“What does that mean?”
“Means we’re still stuck, baby. Snowed in. With no cable services and nothing to do except—“
“Don’t say it.”
“Okay. I’ll just think it.”
P.S. I’ll be giving away one copy of this book to a randomly drawn commenter . . . check back tomorrow.

Steamy indeed! Will that kind of “steam” clear up my cold/congestion?
-Kim, in snowy and now FREEZING Kingston, ON
P.S. Maybe if I read that aloud outside the snow will melt….

Yes, the book is a steamy one, lol. But there’s also a dead body and some quirky characters, for those not reading for the steam.
And Leon . . . you’re right. I never was good at math.

I got that meme last week and the closest book was a cookbook… so mine was about Calzones. I’ve been craving them ever since!

So is it just me or is it just a tad synchronistic that the tag was to turn to and read from a random page on which you found the character turning to and reading from a random page? Seems like the romance God’s were playing woo-woo with us today.
