Why is there never any tape when I need it, and other season musings and greetings
December 24, 2007 | Filed under: Stuff

A confession — I have never, ever, wrapped presents for Christmas before Christmas Eve. That’s how disorganized I am.
Here’s the thing. I mean well. Every year on Christmas Eve when my husband and I stay up, bleary eyed and bickering over the tape at three in the morning as we wrap, I swear to him that next year, we’ll get it together and wrap as we buy the presents.
And every year he slides a half amused, half irritated look my way and asks “how is that possible when we just went Christmas shopping this morning?”
Dammit I hate it when he’s right.
My wish for you? That you’re NOT still scrambling to get it together. That you have a beautiful holiday, and people to share it with.

And in case I don’t get a chance this week to tell you, I am so grateful to you for being here in my little corner of the world. You all mean so much to me. There will be changes this coming year, and I’m excited about them, and hope you stick around for the ride. Love, Jill

Jill, thank you for the laughs, the poignant moments, the love…and that’s just your blog. I love coming here 5 days a week and feeling like I’m visiting a friend.
And I can’t forget to say that I think your books are just wonderful, and I fell completely in love with Noah and Brody, maybe even Shayne a little, this year.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and here’s to an even more rewarding and adventurous 2008. Hugs!

I wrap as I go. Unwrapped presents haunt my dreams if I don’t. And I buy tape in bulk in NOvember!
I can’t go shopping TOO early, though, because when I buy someone a present, I want to give it right away. So all those people who are done by July — they just make me shake my head! Besides, since I don’t shop at malls or at chain stores, I like to get inspired by the season as I make my way around all the handcrafted goods and Mom-and-Pop places.
Have a wonderful holiday! I’m so glad you’re a part of my life!
Oh, and for the stockings — a big tradition in our family is the Christmas morning stockings –I bought a stack of Jill Shalvis books to go in them!
(We have pretty big stockings . . . )

Jill, I wish you and your family health, laughter, friendship and love – because without those four things, nothing else matters.
P.S. How’s wrapping with the two new babies?

Bailey I wanted to ask the same thing. My cat Sammy loves to “help” me when I wrap. I swear I spent more time moving him out of the way….Hugs

Jill two words, gift bags. best invention they ever came up with. Wrapping them Christmas Eve would have been too late because we open ours Christmas Eve. Mine were sitting in piles in the living room from Thursday to Sunday night.

Jill, we totally forgot tape so we had to use shipping package, that thick clear tape, LOL. Luckily we only exchange the one gift to each other now that they are older so I couldn’t imagine wrapping alot with that like when they were young (I had loved shopping for toys!).
I’m looking forward to the year here with you Jill and had a wonderful one here when I was able to visit. Thanks for all the joy you’ve given me with your stories to read! Its been exciting! Thanks, always.
