Epidurals, dream vacations, and cookies oh my

October 16, 2007 | Filed under: Stuff

I’m guest blogging at The Good, The Bad, The Unread today. Please come visit me! But before you go, I have yet another question of the day.

Whether you’re single or not, straight, gay, or whatever … what is the FIRST thing you notice about someone you find yourself attracted to? Curious minds are wondering.

  1. Alicia says:

The first thing I notice about someone I am attracted to is their smile, or their hands. I love a good pair of work roughened, long fingered hands.

  2. Stacy ~ says:

I agree with Alicia – their smile is the first thing I notice, along with a sense of humor. And I’m a total blue-collar girl, so yeah, a guy who works with his hands is sexy, and I also like the roughened, long-fingered hands – ooh la la. Don’t mind the callouses one bit ;)

  3. Stacy S says:

I agree with the others. I have this thing about teeth.

  4. Shirley says:

Definitely the smile. But it’s not a teeth thing, it’s an eyes thing. I like to see a smile that puts a sparkle in a person’s eyes.

  5. mary beth says:

    Eyes and smile.

  6. Elizabeth K says:

I think the first thing that grabs me about an attractive person is how they carry themselves; an attractive person moves with confidence but doesn’t overdo it (no Paris Hilton pouty catwalking).

Sweetheart told me that the first thing he noticed about me was that I showed up for our date. He’s soooo romantic.

  7. Jo says:

Very shallow I know but I like a nice manly hairy chest!! Failing that a smile helps as no one wants to date a misery!

  8. Alison says:

How he smells and hands/forearms…Mmm. What was the question?

  9. Laurie says:

It’s been a mighty long time since I’ve been attracted to anyone, considering how long I’ve been married, but I always appreciate someone who makes eye contact. No shifty eyes for me, please!

  10. Liza says:

I notice his smile and eyes first. I also have this thing about teeth too.

  11. Bailey Stewart says:

    Smile and eyes.

  12. Erin says:

Is he taller than me? :hyper:
What that’s too shallow? Fine, eyes and smile then :) Oh, and if he can string together a full sentence without the word “Uh.”

  13. Alice Audrey says:

The way he holds himself. The way he moves.

  14. Christie says:

Hair – I like blonds and bald guys. Teeth – I have thing about bad teeth (crooked is ok, rotten is not). Height – he’s got to be taller than my sister, who is 6 feet tall.

Smell, smiles, smarts, eyes, butt – well now I’m off track all together. The joy of fantasy.

  15. Susan says:

If he is facing me…the eyes. From the back…his butt. :wigglebrow:

  16. Kimberly H says:

The first thing I notice is his eyes- when they have the crinkles around the corners I melt
If a guy has a nice face(dimples  ), and makes direct eye contact I am usually drawn to him.
Laughter and humor puts the icing on the cake

  17. Cryna says:

The first thing I notice is the eyes and smile. But eyes are the predominant thing, and if they are looking at you straight on or shifting away.

  18. Allie says:

Eyes and smile for me. I also have a thing for short hair.

  19. Gwen says:

How he responds to me. I have liked all shapes and sizes, all colors of men.

If the man responds to me with interest, then I notice his smile. Slightly crooked, with a crinkle or two around the eyes, and I’m his.

  20. Angie T says:

The eyes and the smile. I look for kindness and humor in a person’s face before I look for good looks.

  21. jeanne says:

Eye contact and a nice smile – then forearms lol. Weird things I dislike – fat lips on men or a big butt or a clammy handshake – yuk.

  22. Cindy says:

His body. It’s all about the body.

Ok, I just kidding. Kinda. :wigglebrow: Actually, I agree with the others…for me it’s all about the eyes and smile.

  23. Lis says:

    Eyes and arms

  24. kim h says:

    i do like the eyes.

  25. Brandy says:

The eyes. Especially because your mood is often relfected in your eyes.

  26. Marty says:

Something about a great smile and laugh…I’m also a hand girl. I love good hands :relieved:

  27. Kelli Estes says:

I have to say it’s their sense of confidence. Not overly confident (i.e. macho, bullish, arrogant, etc.), but confidence in themselves. The way a man can do something silly and not get all freaked out by it. The way he can pull away from his crowd to help someone he doesn’t know. Most especially, the way he can be himself, no matter what that self may be, without fear of judgment or rejection. THAT’s sexy.

  28. Dru says:

his smile and bonus if he has cute dimples

  29. Judy F says:

    breathing

  30. Mad says:

Hands down, for me, is their eyes.

  31. Alicia says:

 at Judy F. I definately like them breathing :)

  32. Lexi Connor says:

    Eyes, arms and hands.

  33. JackieToo says:

    Eyes

  34. Brandi says:

i’m a sucker for a beautiful smile and a nice pair of eyes. a guy with a nice, USED pair of hands is up there, too. a man’s-man definitely catches my eye, but how many do you honestly see now-a-days? i sure haven’t found one yet..

  35. Shelly says:

I tend to notice the man who can make the rest of the room laugh. Something about confidence and charisma gets me all tingly too. Add to it a nice smile and kind eyes and I am whooped!

  36. Sarah says:

    confidence and eyes

  37. blue says:

if we’re talking about just seeing someone i think is attractive (in person or print) i think i’m attracted to the shape of their face. good bone structure and skin…followed by eyes and hair. you can have nice eyes but an odd face structure and they get lost a bit. great hair helps. fitness matters.

but to fall in love, they have to have all kinds of other qualities, and “perfect features” quickly loses it’s importance. being a good, kind, loving, interesting, compassionate, dedicated friend and partner trumps great hair/teeth/eyes/skin/bum/etc. any day!
